Other than dating apps which is a hit and miss anyways.

I'm looking for American women a.k.a U.S. citizens who would consider moving back to America in near future not the ones who want to stay in Korea indefinitely.

Most American women I encountered in Seoul were English teachers that have no plan to move back stateside.

What are some natural ways to maybe meet them in Seoul? Doesn't have to be about dating specifically.

I thought about swiping on dating apps near U.S. bases like in 평택 but I don't want to stoop down to that level just yet.

honestly just hit up the social sports leagues like Seoul FC or the kickball groups in Yeouido, tons of Americans on short-term contracts there who are planning to head back. also check out meetup.com for networking events aimed at young professionals, way less of the lifer crowd than the usual expat bars

The foreigner church crowds in Seoul are worth checking out if you're open to that scene. Places like Onnuri Church in Suyu or the International Church in Hannam have a solid mix of Americans who are here for grad school, corporate rotations, or short-term missionary work, not the English teaching lifers. Go to their weekly coffee hours or small group meetups, you'll find people who talk about their plans to move back to the States in a year or two. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce events in Jongno are another option, they host monthly networking mixers where embassy staff and business folks actually go.

Try the Wednesday night run clubs that meet around Ttukseom or the Han River parks. A lot of embassy staffers and corporate transplants join those, and they tend to be on 2-3 year rotations back to the US. The Seoul Hiking Group on Facebook also pulls a different crowd than the usual Itaewon scene, more young professionals who aren't planning to settle here long term. If you're okay with a quieter vibe, the coworking spaces in Seongsu like WeWork or Sparkplus have happy hours where you'll run into Americans doing short-term consulting or remote work.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
