Best traditional music store in Seoul?

Music Instrument Store. Specifically, I plan to buy a great quality Korean style Ocarina (오카리나) and traditional bamboo Danso (단소). Any shops better than Nagwon (낙원악기상가)? Music Instrument Store. Nagwon is the obvious spot but it can be hit or miss for traditional wind instruments since most shops lean toward guitars and keyboards. I'd actually head to the Jongno area around Anguk station, there's a small shop called Sori Nara on the side street behind the main Insadong alley that specializes in 국악기. They stock decent quality dansos starting around 15,000 won and their ocarinas are usually handmade by local potters rather than the mass produced ones you see at Nagwon. The owner's pretty knowledgeable and will let you test play a few before buying.

honestly nagwon is fine but check out the shops in insadong too, they have more traditional craft stuff. found a nice danso there once for way cheaper than the mall prices.

just go to Nagwon like everyone else, that's literally the music instrument district. if you can't find a decent ocarina or danso there you're not looking hard enough. maybe try the basement floor where the smaller shops are, they have more traditional stuff than the main floor kpop

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
