What can you do in Seoul to lower down your stress level? Something you would leave with a big or relaxed smile on your face. Looking for some positivity here!

We've been having a pretty tough year and I can feel the stress accumulating. This is my 3rd time in Seoul, I'm just looking for unforgettable memories at the point.

A baseball match is already planned, but maybe something (paid or not) that could be relaxing or super fun - not karaoke cause it's already something we like to do.

Just anything that could lift up our moods!

one thing that always resets my brain is hiking bukaksan. not the touristy bukhansan trail, the one with the old fortress wall behind the blue house. you need to book a free slot online the day before but it's worth it. the walk is only like an hour and the view over central seoul from the top, especially late afternoon when the light gets golden, just makes everything feel small and manageable. no crowds, no noise, just wind and stone and city spread out below

if you want something more absurdly fun, go to the seoul museum of craft art in jongno. it's in this converted hanok complex and they have a room where you can try making your own tiny ceramic piece for like 10,000 won. you'll probably mess it up and laugh at how bad you are, but the staff are super patient and you walk out with this lumpy little souvenir. plus the courtyard garden is perfect for just sitting on a bench doing nothing

if you want something that's just pure calm, go to seonyudo park on the han river. it's an old water treatment plant turned into this beautiful garden, super quiet compared to the busier spots. walk through the skywalk over the reeds, sit by the water, watch the city from a distance. it's free and feels like a secret.

for something silly and fun, try a jjimjilbang like dragon hill spa in yongsan. not for the fancy pools but for the heated salt room and the cold bath. lie on the heated floor in the big common room with everyone else, eat some sikhye, and just zone out. it's weirdly meditative and you'll leave all soft and slow.

if you want a laugh, go to hongdae on a weekend night and just watch the street performers. there's always someone doing something ridiculous, like a guy dancing badly to k-pop or a magic show that fails halfway. grab some tteokbokki from a pojangmacha nearby and just soak in the chaos. it's free and the energy is infectious.

honestly just go to the cheonggyecheon stream at night. find a spot near gwanghwamun where it's quieter, take your shoes off, dangle your feet in the water. the lights along the stream are pretty and the sound of the water drowns out the city noise. it's free and you'll prob forget everything for 20 minutes

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
