Where to find menstrual products in Seoul? Do they look/work any different compared to Australia?

I'll probably pack my own products for the most part but want to be prepared in case I run out.

Is it usual to find pads and tampons in supermarkets and pharmacies? Are there bins in all female restrooms? I've heard American tampons have some kind of applicator, is that true of Korean ones too?? In Australia we just shove it up there, lol. Also, what are the Korean words for different products so I can recognise the hangul on the packaging if I need to?

Sorry if any of these questions seem overly anxious, this is my first time travelling outside of the west so I have no point of reference for how similar this sort of thing is!!

pretty much every convenience store or pharmacy will have them, no worries there. one difference you might notice is that korean pads are often way thinner than australian ones, like the ultra-thin ones are the standard here. also if you need a specific brand or type, olive young (the big drugstore chain) has a massive selection, way more than a convenience store. the word for sanitary pad is 생리대 (saengni-dae) and tampon is 탐폰 (tampon), so just look for those on the packaging. hardly anyone uses applicator tamp

yeah u can find pads and tampons at basically any convenience store or pharmacy, like gs25 or cu, they'll have a small aisle for it. korean tampons mostly don't have applicators btw, just the plain cardboard tube kind or none at all, so pretty similar to what ur used to. pads are way more common here though, tons of variety.

for the hangul, pads are 생리대 (saengni-dae) and tampons are 탐폰 (tampon). just look for those on the packaging. most bathrooms have little bins inside the stall, even at subway stations, so that's fine.

one thing that might throw u off is some public restrooms have a sign saying not to flush anything, even toilet paper, but that's more about the pipes than the product itself. just use the bin and ur good.

looks like the other two already covered the basics so i'll just add that olive young has a whole wall of menstrual stuff, probably the easiest place to find something close to what ur used to. if u see a brand called goodfeel, that's one of the more common ones for pads.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
