Anybody play volleyball?

Studying here at university for the month of July. Am looking for competitive indoor volleyball, if anyone plays or knows where to I'd love to join. I am staying near SKKU. honestly the best bet for competitive indoor near skku is the sports center at jangchung gymnasium, it's like a 15 minute bus ride from campus. they have open court sessions on tuesdays and thursdays at 8pm, 5,000 won entry and the level is pretty high since some ex-college players show up. the korean volleyball association also runs a league finder on their site but you'd need someone to translate it for you

if you're near skku, the hyehwa area actually has a small but solid volleyball scene. there's a gym called 동대문체육관 that runs open games on monday nights at 8, it's about a 10 minute walk from hyehwa station. the crowd is a mix of locals and students, and they usually split into teams based on skill so you won't be stuck with beginners. entry is 8,000 won and they provide the balls

I've been playing with a group that rents court time at a school gym in Seongbuk-gu, about 15 minutes north of SKKU by bus. It's mostly Korean office workers in their late 20s and 30s who've been playing since college, so the rallies are long and the setting is sharp. We meet Saturday mornings at 10am and the fee is usually 7,000 won per person. They're pretty welcoming to new faces but you'll want to message the organizer on the "서울 배구 모임" KakaoTalk open chat first since they need to balance the numbers.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
