I'm having trouble with translation agencies right now as they all need 1 week notice to book.

Does someone have a friend fluent in english and korean that they can introduce to me?? ofc will be compensated for translation services.

The clinic itself really is your best bet, most of the big Gangnam ones have in-house English coordinators who handle everything from the consult to post-op care, so ask for that when you confirm your appointment and it's usually free. If you want a backup, check the Facebook group "Seoul Mates" or the "Gangnam Plastic Surgery" community, people post same-day gigs there all the time. For a 2-hour consult, expect to pay around 60,000 to 80,000 won, but make sure whoever you get has some medical background, the anatomical terms for nose work get lost in translation fast.

try the gangnam medical tourism facebook groups, lots of people there do same-day gigs like this. also the plastic surgery clinics themselves often have in-house english coordinators, just ask the front desk when u book the consult, they usually include it free if u mention u need it. if that fails, post on seoul foreigner slack or the expat kakao open chats, someone will jump on it for like 50-80k won for 2 hrs. make sure u get a native korean speaker though, not just someone who lived here 6 months, the medical jargon gets tricky

ngl the clinic coordinator thing is solid but if u want a real backup, check the "Seoul Foreigners" kakao open chat, it's way more active than facebook groups for last minute stuff. i've seen people post "need an interpreter for tomorrow" and get 10 replies within an hour, usually uni students or freelancers who do this regularly. for a 2 hr consult expect 70k-100k won, but ask if they've done medical stuff before, some will do it for cheap but butcher the vocab. also if u're going to a clinic in apgujeong, the front desks are used to foreigners, so even if u just ask for a "foreigner manager" they'll usually pull someone out of the back room. worst case, download papago and have the doctor type stuff out, it handles medical terms better than most amateur translators tbh.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
