I was offered a very competitive price for breast augmentation in Seoul. Is it suspicious or is the plastic surgery market in Seoul extremely saturated?

I was going to do the surgery shortly after the consultations, but then realized I need to get my finances together and have some financial backup too, so I let the clinics know I have to wait a few more weeks before my final decision.

Within a week some of the clinics started to lower the price offered during the consultation and now one of the clinics offered an extremely competitive price for Motiva implants in exchange for some pictures before and after and a review. The clinic is a small one and the surgeon specializes in eyes and breasts. He's a legitimate surgeon and I verified his credentials. The clinic has around 120 reviews on Naver and they're not very detailed, but I haven't found anything negative on Purse forum either.

Is it suspicious that the clinic offered a price way below its current market price in Seoul? Im not a tourist and speak some Korean and live in Seoul for context.

Thank you for your opinions!

fwiw the whole "lowering prices after you said no" thing is pretty common in gangnam clinics, they know patients shop around. that specific combo of eyes and breasts is less weird than it sounds, a lot of korean surgeons do that because both are high demand procedures and the techniques are more about precision than body vs face. the real thing id check is whether he's using the actual motiva gel or the cheaper round silicone they sometimes try to swap in, ask for the box to be opened in front of you. also 120 reviews on naver is actually decent for a small clinic, most of those tiny places barely break 50. just make sure the before/after pics are his and not some random patient photos he bought online, that happens more than people think

honestly the pic for discount thing is pretty standard here, i've seen it with a few friends who did smaller clinics. the catch is usually that you're locked into using their aftercare clinic if anything goes wrong, since they're banking on your results for marketing. motiva implants themselves are legit but make sure you're getting the actual serial number and that the warranty card matches the clinic's info, some places try to cut costs with older stock. the price drop within a week feels a bit aggressive but if he's legit and you've checked his korean medical association license number then it's prob just a small clinic trying to fill their surgery slots

the aggressive price drop is a bit of a red flag tbh but not for the reason you think. smaller clinics here will absolutely undercut to fill slots, especially if theyre trying to build their instagram or blog presence. the bigger issue is that the surgeon specializing in eyes and breasts is kind of a weird combo - eyes are super delicate facial work and breasts are a whole different ballgame with implant placement and pocket work. id check if hes done at least 50-100 breast augmentations specifically, not just general plastic surgeries.

also the naver reviews being sparse is normal for small clinics but make sure you see actual before/afters of his breast work, not just eye photos. some surgeons will show ideal results from other patients or even stock photos. if you go through with it, ask for the motiva serial number on the day of surgery and verify it through their korean app before they knock you out. the trade for pics deal is fine as long as you get it in writing that they cant use them for ads without your explicit approval later, some clinics will try to milk that forever.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
