I have searched other reddit posts but it seems like they are over 2 years old. If you do know any could you please write it in Hangul. Thank you very much :D

for beginners honestly the language barrier is less of an issue than you'd think, most drills are visual and u pick up the korean commands quick (차기, 막기, etc). but if u want a place where english is really spoken, check out bom muay thai in mangwon, it's 봄 무에타이. small studio, the owner trained in thailand and runs classes in english + korean, and there's a decent mix of expats. also worth knowing most gyms here run on a monthly membership, around 150k to 200k won, and they usually expect u to commit to a month minimum, not pay per class. so do the free trial first, but also ask about the schedule, some places only have evening classes which is rough if u work late. mangwon's a bit quieter than hongdae but the gym's right near the station exit, easy to find

if you're near sinchon, check out team force muay thai, it's 팀포스 무에타이. small gym but the head coach fought in thailand so he's got solid credentials, and there's a handful of foreign regulars who train there, mostly exchange students. they're not super flashy on instagram but the vibe is more "just train" which i liked when i first started. also, a lot of gyms here do a "one month beginner course" in korean, so if u can't find english classes, ask if they have a separate beginner program, sometimes those are more forgiving for non-korean speakers. bring hand wraps, most places sell them but they're overpriced at the front desk.

try the korean muay thai association gyms in hongdae, a lot of them have english speaking coaches and foreign members. specifically check out team mad in hongdae, they're super chill and the trainers adjust to ur level. also bangkok boxing in itaewon is another solid pick but it gets packed after work hours, so go early morning if u can. in hangul it's 팀 매드 홍대 and 방콕복싱 이태원. most places do a free trial class, so just show up and see which vibe fits u better.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
