I'm traveling to Seoul later this year and I'm thinking of getting my hair done while I'm there. I'd like to do color + haircut.

I'm from Europe and my natural color is dirty blonde. I dye my hair quite often, now I currently have a balayage. Any recommendations of salons in Seoul that now how to work with my type of hair?

I was thinking of going to Soonsiki salon, but I've read mixed reviews from foreigners saying their hair got burnt from too much bleach or the salon made their hair thinner than before. 🫠

another option is hairmuseum in seongsu, they're pretty meticulous with bleach and do a lot of custom color work. make sure you bring reference photos and ask for a consultation in advance, most good spots here offer that for free. pricing for balayage + cut usually runs around 200,000 to 350,000 won depending on the salon

honestly i'd skip soonsiki if you're worried about damage, they tend to go heavy on the bleach for asian hair texture and dont always adjust for finer european strands. try juno hair in hongdae instead, they've got a few stylists who trained abroad and know their way around balayage without frying it.

yeah soonsiki is risky for blonde work honestly. i'd check out la boutique in gangnam, they're known for european hair and balayage specifically, a lot of expat girls go there

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
