Is there a place to find Hwachae near Myeondong?

I've seen Hwachae on TikTok saying a great Korean summer time drink but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can anyone recommend a place they know of that sells it?

Many thanks!!

The basement food hall in Shinsegae Department Store (the main branch near Myeongdong) has a dessert counter that does a proper omija hwachae with those little tapioca pearls. It's about 6,500 won and they don't skimp on the fruit. Just go down the escalator near the luxury watch section and you'll see it on the left past the tteok stalls.

honestly hwachae is more of a seasonal thing you see at traditional markets or specific dessert cafes rather than a standard menu item in myeongdong. if you're already in the area, try heading to the food court in the basement of Lotte Department Store - they sometimes have a stall near the dessert section that does a watermelon hwachae in summer. otherwise i'd hop over to Ssamzigil in insadong, it's a short subway ride away and they have a cafe on the top floor that serves it with fresh fruit and soda water year-round. costs about 8,000 won but it's a decent portion

There's a spot in Myeongdong called Cafe de Paris that does a mean fruit punch bowl kinda thing, not exactly traditional hwachae but it's close enough and hits the spot on a hot day. It's tucked away on a side street near the main shopping area, you'll spot the fruit displays out front.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
