Good restaurants for wagyu beef in seoul/busan?

I am going to korea in the next few days and i would like to know if there are restaurants with wagyu beef ? I tasted it for the first time in Tokyo (we went to Ninja) last year and would love to eat… I am going to korea in the next few days and i would like to know if there are restaurants with wagyu beef ? you'll find wagyu in seoul but just so u know, japanese wagyu is expensive here since it's imported. most places do domestic hanwoo which is korean beef and honestly just as good imo. if you really want wagyu, born & bred in seoul is famous for it but you'll need a reservation way in advance. for something easier, try butcher's cut in gangnam, they do both wagyu and hanwoo and it's walk-in friendly if you go early. just expect to pay around 100k won per person for a decent set.

if you're set on japanese wagyu specifically, yukdaejang in hannam-dong is worth checking out. they import it directly so the quality's solid but yeah it's gonna cost you. honestly though, give hanwoo a real shot while you're here - it's got that buttery marbling but a cleaner taste than wagyu. for a hanwoo spot that feels special, try majang-dong meat market where you pick your cut from a butcher and they grill it upstairs, way cheaper than a fancy restaurant and more fun

honestly just go for hanwoo instead, it's what korea does best and way more accessible. for a casual spot, try mapo jeongdaepo in mapo-gu where they let you grill your own and it's like 50k for a solid meal

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
