Hi everyone,

Recently I am thinking about doing some work as a delivery driver in Shinsegae logistics as a truck driver in Seoul. I have heard some bad stories about that kind of work. Is there anyone here who tried it that may be kind enough to give me some insight? The money they promise looks to good to be true.

Thank you advance everyone

yeah so one thing nobody mentioned yet is the night shift angle. if u do the late runs out of shinsegae's guri or hanam depots, the pay jumps but ur also dealing with the delivery deadlines for the next morning's fresh section, which means u might be sitting at a store dock at 3am waiting for their night crew to unload. that waiting time is unpaid on most contracts, and it adds up fast.

also check if ur route includes the new apartment developments in nowon or gangbuk, those places have mandatory security check-ins at the gate and some require ur truck to have a specific emissions sticker to even enter the underground parking. if the truck shinsegae gives u doesnt have that sticker, u'll be parking on the street and hauling boxes by hand cart, which doubles the physical work.

my real advice is to look at the contract clause about "dispatch flexibility". some drivers i know got shifted from seoul to incheon or suwon routes mid-week with no notice, and the mileage compensation doesnt cover the extra commute back home. ask them in writing what the max daily radius is and whether they can reassign u outside seoul proper. if they dodge that question, walk away, cause that's where the hidden costs live.

honestly the biggest thing people sleep on is the license class. if ur only holding a regular class 1, shinsegae might stick u on the small box trucks but the real money routes need the bigger ones, that means upgrading to class 1 large and that test is a whole other beast in seoul. i have a buddy who drives for e-mart's delivery network and he says the first month is basically unpaid training disguised as "route familiarization", u follow a senior driver but dont clock ur own hours, so factor that into ur savings before u start.

also think about where ur actually delivering, not where the depot is. if ur assigned to the yeongdeungpo or mapo zones, the congestion surcharges and tolls come out of ur pocket on some contracts, and the residential alleys in those areas are tight enough that u'll scrape mirrors if ur not careful. the plus side is the night shifts pay better but then u deal with drunk pedestrians stumbling into the road, which is its own kind of stress.

if i were u i'd hit up the korea truck drivers association office near the seoul express bus terminal, they have a blacklist of logistics firms that underpay, and they'll tell u straight if shinsegae's current crew is quitting fast. that info is free and saves u the heartache of signing something u regret. also, check the truck's tachograph before u agree to anything, some companies disable it so

i actually looked into this a while back, the pay ads are real but they factor in 12+ hour days and no overtime for the first chunk. the real killer is parking in seoul, you'll spend half ur shift just trying to find a spot near the delivery points, especially in gangnam or jongno. if u can handle the early mornings and the constant stop and go traffic, it's steady money, but ur body will hate u after a month. maybe try a smaller courier gig first, like cj logistics or lotte, to see if the lifestyle fits before committing to shinsegae's heavier routes. also check if they count ur rest breaks, some drivers say they don't and that's where the "too good" part kicks in.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
