Hi guys. Can you let me know how much are the range for prescription glasses in Seoul? I have astigmatism + nearsightedness. I usually prefer my lenses to have UV and blue light protection.

Also, if you can comment with the name of your trusted eyeglasses store. Thanks for your help!

honestly you can get a solid pair for around 80,000-150,000 won at places like Davich or Lens Story if you go with their basic frames and standard 1.67 index lenses. your astigmatism and blue light coating will push it up a bit, maybe closer to 200,000 if you want thinner lenses

i really like 안경나라 in Hongdae, theyre super upfront about prices and the staff actually know their stuff. they quoted me 180,000 for 1.74 index with all the coatings last time and it came out perfect

You can find decent glasses starting around 60,000 won at places like Eyelove in Myeongdong if you stick to the basic package, but for astigmatism with blue light coating you're probably looking at 150,000 to 250,000 won depending on how thin you want the lenses.

I always go to Gwanghwamun Anjeong in Jongno, they've got a huge selection and the optician actually speaks English if that's a concern. Paid 190,000 for my last pair with all the extras and the frames were included.

fwiw the pricing really depends on which neighborhood you hit. places in Gangnam or department store basements will charge 300,000+ easy for the same specs you'd get for 150,000 in Jongno or around Ewha Womans Univ

I've been going to 시력교정센터 near Sillim Station for years, they do a proper refraction test and don't upsell frames you dont need. paid 170,000 last time for 1.67 index with astigmatism correction and blue light coating, frames included. just make sure to ask for the "student price" even if you're not a student, they usually honor it

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
