Hi,

After tasting coffee at a few coffee shops in Seoul I wanted to buy myself a coffee grinder to start experimenting with coffee.

Anyone can recommend any stores that sells coffee tools, manual grinders, V60s etc?

I don't want to buy anything electric or big since I need to fit it in my luggage.

Thanks for any advice!

If you're around Jongno, stop by Coffee Guleum. It's a small shop tucked near Anguk Station that carries manual grinders and ceramic drip cones you won't find at the big chains. They've got the Comandante C40 in stock pretty often, which is pricey but packs small. You can walk there from the station in about five minutes, just look for the sign with the cloud logo.

Coffee Factory in Seongsu has a lot of manual stuff. Saw a shelf of Porlex grinders and plastic V60s last week. Not the biggest selection but their prices are decent for Korea. Grab a bag of beans while you're there

Head over to Coffee Libre in Hongdae, they have a good selection of manual grinders and V60 gear. The staff there actually know their stuff and won't try to upsell you on something bulky. For something smaller, Coffee Yangjae in Gangnam also stocks compact options like the Hario Skerton Pro, which fits easily in carry-on.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
