Hi. I'm travelling to Seoul next week. Is there a local dupe for Dyson hair curler? The one that won't damage the hair ? Thanks in advance for your suggestions

theres a brand called JMW that makes a solid air styler, i see it at Homeplus in Gangnam all the time. runs about 90,000 won and has this negative ion thing that keeps hair from getting fried, my friend swears by hers. the trick is to look for the one with the rotating head not the fixed one, the fixed ones are older models and kinda suck. theyre all 220v so grab a converter if youre coming from a 110v country

tbh the UNIX airbrush styler is pretty popular here and way gentler than most knockoffs. it uses far-infrared heat instead of direct ceramic plates so less frizz damage. found mine at the Lotte in Jamsil for about 120,000 won, it's in the home appliance section near the vacuum cleaners not with the regular hair tools. just check the voltage before u plug it in since some models are korea-only 220v

honestly you're better off checking out the Dyson knockoffs at Olive Young or Lotte Department store. theres a brand called VOV that makes a similar air wrap style curler for like 80,000 won vs the dyson being 500,000+ and it uses ionic tech so not as damaging. i saw one at the Myeongdong Olive Young last week on the second floor by the hair tools section. just make sure u get the one with the ceramic coating not the basic plastic barrel

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
