How accurate is google maps in Seoul?

Going to japan first, and google maps was highly recommended. I was wondering if seoul uses google maps as well? Going to japan first, and google maps was highly recommended. I was wondering if seoul uses google maps as well?

You'll want both Naver Map and KakaoMap on your phone before you land. Google Maps is fine for subway routes between stations, but that's about where its usefulness ends. The map data restrictions mean you can't get walking or driving directions through Google at all.

Naver Map is what everyone here uses day to day. It shows you which subway exit to take, how to navigate through the underground shopping arcades at Gangnam Station, and which bus stop is actually closer to your destination. The English version works well enough once you change it in settings.

KakaoMap is a close second and some people prefer its interface. If you already use KakaoTalk for messaging, the integration makes it convenient to share locations with friends. Both apps show real time bus arrivals, which is essential since Seoul's buses run every 5 to 15 minutes depending on the route.

KakaoMap is actually what I default to for driving and walking, it handles the alleyways in places like Ikseon-dong better than Naver in my experience. The live bus arrival times on both are solid, but Naver's subway exit numbers are sometimes wrong near Seoul Station.

Naver Map is the standard here, Google Maps won't give you walking or driving directions at all because of South Korea's map data restrictions. It works for transit routing since that data is provided separately, but you'll be stuck if you need to navigate on foot. KakaoMap is another good backup and integrates well with KakaoTalk if you use it. I'd grab Naver Map before you land and set the language to English in the settings.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
