the fortress rampart walk is worth doing twice, once early before the crowds & once at dusk when the light hits the cathedral. one thing missing: the old wooden houses on Gorkogo, a few blocks off Lenina, are quietly the most atmospheric bit of the center & nobody photographs them. nice work on the transport fares, those numbers are accurate

bus 7 also stops at Partizanskaya

Good work putting this together, the transport fares are right. One thing I'd add for Day 2: the Museum of Partisan Glory is small but the dioramas deserve more than the 30 minutes most people give them. Also check opening days before you go, it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays if I remember right, which the guide doesn't flag.

🏰 Start at the Kremlin
Begin your visit at the Bryansk Kremlin, the city's historic core on Pokrovskaya Gora. The reconstructed walls and the Cathedral of the Intercession offer a compact introduction to Bryansk's origins as a fortress town. Entry to the grounds is free, and the cathedral is open daily from 8:00 to 19:00. From the viewpoint, you get a sweeping look over the Desna River and the city beyond.

🖼️ Regional Art Museum
The Bryansk Regional Art Museum, at ulitsa Yemelyanova 3, holds a surprisingly strong collection of Russian icons and 19th-century paintings. It's housed in a former merchant mansion, and the interior alone is worth the 300-ruble admission. Closed on Mondays; open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. Check for temporary exhibitions, which often feature local artists.

🌳 Park of the 1000th Anniversary
This central park, known locally as the Park of the 1000th Anniversary of Bryansk, is a favorite for evening strolls. It has a large pond, rental boats in summer, and a Ferris wheel with good views. In winter, the ice rink opens near the main entrance. It's a 10-minute walk from the Kremlin and free to enter.

🍽️ Eat Like a Local
For a taste of Bryansk, head to the chain Pryanosti i Fakty at prospekt Lenina 41, where a business lunch costs around 350 rubles. The city is also known for its dairy, so try local sour cream and tvorog at the Central Market on ulitsa Kozlova. For something heartier, the cafe U Ozera near the park serves traditional Russian dishes like borscht and pelmeni. Most restaurants open at 11:00 and close by 23:00.

🚶 Walk the Desna Embankment
The Desna River embankment is the city's living room, especially on warm evenings. Start near the Kremlin and walk north toward the railway bridge for sunset views. You'll pass street musicians, food stalls, and the occasional open-air exhibition. It's completely free and a great way to mix with residents.

🚌 Getting Around Town
Bryansk has an extensive network of trolleybuses and marshrutkas (minibuses) that cover most sights. A single ride costs about 30 rubles, paid in cash to the driver. The metro doesn't exist here, but taxis via apps like Yandex Go are cheap, with short trips around 150 rubles. The main bus and train stations are both near the city center, making day trips easy.

🎭 Evening at the Drama Theater
The Bryansk Regional Drama Theater, at ploshchad Lenina 1, stages classic Russian plays and occasional modern productions. Tickets range from 300 to 800 rubles, and shows typically start at 18:30. Even if you don't speak Russian, the ornate Soviet-era building and lively crowd are an experience. Check the schedule online or at the box office, which opens at 10:00.

🛍️ Shop for Local Crafts
For souvenirs, visit the Bryansk Folk Art Center on ulitsa Fokina 5, where you'll find handmade ceramics, linen, and woodwork. Prices are reasonable, with small pieces starting at 200 rubles. The center is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00. It's a good place to pick up something authentic beyond the usual matryoshka dolls.

worth adding the old Gostiny Dvor arcades near the center, quiet and half empty but the brickwork is nice. also the dynamo stadium area has a decent flea market on weekend mornings if ur into that sort of thing

Appreciate the detail on hours and fares, that's the stuff guides usually skip. One addition: the Museum of Brothers Tkachev on ulitsa Sovetskaya is small but genuinely worth an hour, it covers the partisan movement and the dioramas are old-school in a charming way. Entry was around 100 rubles when I went and it's closed Mondays too, so plan around that.
