🍽️ Where to Start
Begin your food tour at the Bryansk Central Market (Lenina Prospekt, 10), open daily from 7:00 to 19:00, where vendors sell fresh produce, smoked meats, and local honey. For a quick bite, try the chebureki stall near the entrance, offering hot pastries for around 100-150 rubles. This market is a great place to sample regional flavors before exploring the city's restaurants.

🥟 Traditional Dishes
Bryansk is known for its hearty Russian cuisine, especially dishes like borscht, pelmeni, and shchi. Head to Kolyada (ulitsa Duki, 12) for a classic borscht served with sour cream and rye bread, priced at about 250 rubles. Another local favorite is the potato-filled vareniki at Babushkina Kukhnya (Prospekt Stanke Dimitrova, 36), where a generous portion costs around 200 rubles.

🍲 Top Restaurants
For a sit-down meal, try Restaurant Ogonyok (ulitsa Krasnoarmeyskaya, 15), which offers a mix of Russian and European dishes in a cozy setting. Main courses range from 400 to 700 rubles, and the business lunch (available weekdays from 12:00 to 16:00) is a steal at 350 rubles. Another solid choice is Cafe Pushkin (Prospekt Lenina, 45), known for its blini and pelmeni, with prices around 300-500 rubles per dish.

🌮 Street Food Stalls
Bryansk's street food scene is modest but satisfying. Near the Bryansk State Circus (ulitsa Kalinina, 45), you'll find stalls selling shashlik (grilled meat skewers) for 200-250 rubles, perfect for a quick snack. Also look for pirozhki vendors around the train station (Bryansk Orlovsky Station), where freshly baked pies with various fillings cost about 80-120 rubles each.

🍰 Sweet Treats
Don't miss the local honey cake (medovik) at Konditerskaya Sladkaya Zhizn (ulitsa Fokina, 8), where a slice costs around 150 rubles. For ice cream, try the Soviet-style plombir at the kiosk in Gagarin Park (ulitsa Gagarina, 1), open from 10:00 to 20:00 in summer. These sweet stops offer a delightful break during your explorations.

🍺 Local Drinks
Bryansk has a growing craft beer scene, with bars like Pivnaya Lavka (ulitsa Sovetskaya, 22) serving local brews from 200 rubles per pint. For non-alcoholic options, try the kvass sold from street barrels in summer, or visit the Chaynaya (ulitsa Lenina, 30) for a pot of Russian tea with jam for 150 rubles. These drinks pair well with the city's hearty meals.

💰 Budget Tips
Eating well in Bryansk doesn't have to break the bank. A hearty lunch at a stolovaya (cafeteria) like Stolovaya No. 1 (ulitsa Ulyanova, 12) costs around 200-300 rubles for a full meal. Keep an eye out for business lunch specials at restaurants, which often include soup, main course, and drink for under 400 rubles. Street food and market snacks are also affordable options for budget travelers.

🕒 Best Times to Eat
Most restaurants in Bryansk open around 11:00 or 12:00 and close by 22:00 or 23:00. The busiest times are from 13:00 to 14:00 for lunch and 18:00 to 20:00 for dinner, so arrive early or book ahead. For street food, the stalls near the circus are most active from 12:00 to 20:00, while the market is best visited in the morning for the freshest selection.

the fortress rampart walk is worth doing twice, once early before the crowds & once at dusk when the light hits the cathedral. one thing missing: the old wooden houses on Gorkogo, a few blocks off Lenina, are quietly the most atmospheric bit of the center & nobody photographs them. nice work on the transport fares, those numbers are accurate

bus 7 also stops at Partizanskaya

Good work putting this together, the transport fares are right. One thing I'd add for Day 2: the Museum of Partisan Glory is small but the dioramas deserve more than the 30 minutes most people give them. Also check opening days before you go, it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays if I remember right, which the guide doesn't flag.
