is City Museum worth it for first time visitors in 2026

Dr Bhau Daji Lad in Byculla is the one worth your morning, roughly two hours. It's quieter than the CSMVS crowd and the building itself is half the visit. Skip the cafe inside and walk to Byculla for Irani chai instead.

Good shout on the building being half the visit. The textile and miniature galleries upstairs are easy to rush past though. Give those an extra twenty minutes or so.

The armoury section next to them, easy to miss.

agreed, but check the timings before u go. it's closed on Wednesdays and the odd public holiday catches people out. the zoo next door makes a decent combo if you've got the morning free

Chai at Farooq's opposite the station, better than any cafe

Entry is just ten rupees on weekdays and the cafe crowd thins out once school groups leave around noon.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Veermata Jijabai garden next door, go early before the heat.

Mawa cake at Yazdani Bakery, sit inside.

Kala Ghoda, opens 10am, closed on state holidays.

tbh the City Museum (CSMVS) on Mahatma Gandhi Road is a solid 2 to 3 hours if you actually read the labels. march heat means the AC is a bonus. for after, Kala Ghoda Cafe on Rampart Row does good coffee, or grab a kheema pav at Olympia nearby. i'd pick it over the smaller galleries around there.

Best cocktails at Brass & Oak in Mumbai 2026?

fmd_goodBrass & Oak · #cocktails
I'm visiting Mumbai next month and Brass & Oak keeps coming up. What's the vibe there and which cocktails are actually worth ordering in 2026? Also, do they take walk ins or should I book ahead? Book ahead Friday, Smoked Old Fashioned.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Agree on booking ahead, the place fills up fast after 8. The Kokum Margarita is the one I'd add, it's properly local and not too sweet. Ask for a table near the back if you want to actually talk.

yep reserving ahead is the move, they hold tables till 8:30 then it's first come chaos. ask for the mezzanine if you can, way less cramped than the bar side.

Thursday's quieter, same drink

asking for the corner booth when u reserve helps, way less foot traffic. and ask them to hold it past 9, fridays run late there

Image franka local ·

Their Smoked Old Fashioned is solid but the bar seats near the window pour better, so request one when you reserve.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Go early evening before the office crowd lands, and try the tamarind whiskey sour if it's still on the menu

tbh the negroni there is what locals actually order, and skip weekends unless u enjoy shouting over the music.
