🍛 Must-Try Local Dishes
Bellary's food scene is rooted in North Karnataka flavors, with jolada rotti (sorghum flatbread) and ennegayi (stuffed eggplant curry) as staples. Don't miss the spicy Bellary-style biryani, which leans toward a tangy, pepper-forward profile unlike Hyderabadi versions. For a quick bite, try the local mirchi bajji at street stalls near Gadigi Chennappa Circle, priced at just ₹10-20 per piece.

🍽️ Top Restaurants to Visit
For a sit-down meal, head to Hotel Nakshatra at Station Road, known for its North Indian thalis (₹150-250) and efficient service from 11 AM to 10 PM. Another favorite is Sri Sagar Grand on Bangalore Road, offering South Indian breakfast items like dosa and idli (₹40-80) starting at 7 AM. For dinner, try Hotel Swagath near Gandhi Nagar, which serves a mean chicken biryani (₹180-220) and is open until 11 PM.

🌮 Street Food Hotspots
The area around Bellary Bus Stand is a street food paradise, especially in the evenings when carts selling pani puri (₹30-40 per plate) and masala dosa (₹50) line the sidewalks. For a unique local snack, look for stalls selling ragi mudde with chicken curry near the old town area, typically priced at ₹80-100. The night market near Gadigi Chennappa Circle is also great for hot jilebi (₹20-30) and filter coffee (₹15).

🥘 Vegetarian Favorites
Bellary has a strong vegetarian tradition, and places like Hotel Annapurna on Car Street serve authentic Karnataka-style meals with rice, sambar, and palya (₹100-150) from 7 AM to 3 PM. For a quick thali, try Hotel Shanthi Sagar near the railway station, where the unlimited lunch thali costs around ₹120 and includes dessert. Don't overlook the small Udupi-style joints in Gandhi Nagar, which offer crispy vadas and idlis at pocket-friendly prices.

🍗 Non-Veg Delights
For meat lovers, Hotel Dwaraka on Bellary-Hospet Road is famous for its spicy mutton curry (₹200-250) and soft rotis, served from noon to 10 PM. Another go-to is Hotel Riyaz near the old bus stand, known for its kebabs and biryani (₹150-200), open until midnight. If you're craving seafood, head to Hotel Fish Land on Bangalore Road, where fish fry and prawn curry (₹250-350) are the highlights.

🍰 Sweet Treats and Desserts
Bellary's sweet shops are a must-visit, especially Sri Krishna Sweets on Station Road, where you can buy traditional Mysore pak (₹200 per 250g) and other milk-based sweets. For a cold treat, try the fruit custard or gadbad ice cream at Hotel Nakshatra's dessert counter (₹80-120). Local bakeries like Cake Palace in Gandhi Nagar offer fresh pastries and puffs (₹30-60) throughout the day.

💸 Budget Eating Tips
You can eat well in Bellary for under ₹200 per day if you stick to local eateries and street stalls. A typical breakfast of idli-vada costs ₹30-40, while a full lunch thali at a basic restaurant is around ₹80-100. For dinner, street-side dosa or fried rice from carts near the bus stand will set you back just ₹50-70.

🕒 Best Times to Eat
Most restaurants in Bellary open by 7 AM for breakfast and serve lunch from 12:30 PM to 3 PM, after which many close until 6 PM. Street food stalls become lively after 5 PM and stay busy until 10 PM, especially around the bus stand and Gadigi Chennappa Circle. For dinner, plan to eat by 8 PM to avoid crowds, as popular spots like Hotel Swagath fill up quickly on weekends.

Skip the sit-down places for obbattu at the small Iyengar bakery near Car Street, sold warm till noon only.

Kudutha bisi bele bath, Kalamma Street, mornings only.

Only passed through Bellary twice but the jolada rotti meal at a tiny khanavali off Hospet Road stuck with me, around 90 rupees with ennegayi and buttermilk. Ask for extra yennagai, they never charge. Skip the AC places for this one.

Good effort putting this together, the fort timing is about right. One thing though, the District Museum on Fort Road was shut for renovation when I passed through in October, so call ahead or ask at the hotel before you build the afternoon around it. Municipal Park nearby is a decent fallback, and the old Jain basadi ruins out past Kappagal Road are worth a detour if you have spare time.

The itinerary's pacing is right. One add: the Sandur Manganese hills area north of town is a quiet half day if you want a break from temples, and the drive past the mines is oddly scenic. Carry water, nothing much on that route.

Appreciate the detail, but double check the Hampi bus timing since the first one from the Bellary stand often leaves closer to 7.
