My neighbor throws loud house parties sometimes and especially the fireworks freak me out and I really don't want to deal with this anymore. I don't have a car but does anyone have any recommendations for Airbnbs or other places where I can stay outside of Berlin, far from the chaos that will be unleashed this weekend?

tbh the Müritz side is worth considering if you're ok with a longer ride. Neustrelitz is about 1h40 from Gesundbrunnen on the RE5, and the whole Mecklenburg lake district basically shuts down in winter, so you get empty streets and a lake you can actually walk around without a single party in sight. There's a couple of small pensions near the Schlosspark that stay open over the holidays, cheaper than anything in Brandenburg too. Just check the train times carefully, the 31st schedule gets thin after like 8pm.

Wandlitz is worth a look if you want somewhere close but genuinely silent. The S2 goes to Bernau and from there it's a short bus ride, or you can just book a place around Wandlitzsee where the forest starts right at the water. Winter there is dead, most of the lakeside cafes are closed, and you'll hear maybe a few distant fireworks at midnight but nothing like inside the Ring. Bring food with you though, the few open places shut early on the 31st.

If you want to stay properly far from everything, the Uckermark is the move. Take the RE3 from Hauptbahnhof toward Prenzlau or Stralsund, it's about 1h15 to Templin and the town itself is half empty in winter, the lake is frozen and there's basically no one around. Book something in Templin or Angermünde and you'll get a proper quiet night, maybe some faint fireworks from a village but that's it. One thing to know, the regional trains run less often on the 31st and 1st so check the DB app before you commit, and stock up on groceries in Berlin because shops out there are closed.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
