Seriously, it was like everyone in the city decided to shop at the same time. I swear I saw a family of badgers trying to sneak a sausage roll... almost got trampled a few times. My question is: is this level of Saturday afternoon mayhem normal at Netto or did I just hit peak chaos?

That Saturday chaos is pretty standard for Netto, especially if you hit the one near any U-Bahn station. The trick is to go in with a plan and know exactly where everything is, because those aisles are narrow and people do not move. I'd recommend the Lidl on Greifswalder Strasse if you want a similar discount vibe but with slightly less of a bloodbath on weekends.

Saturday netto is its own ecosystem. If you go to the one near Hermannplatz, the chaos actually has a method to it - everyone knows the layout and it's more like an aggressive dance. The real nightmare is the Rewe at Warschauer on a Sunday before a holiday, people lose their minds over bread. I'd say hit the Späti on your corner for milk next time, it'll be a euro more but you won't need therapy after.

ngl that sounds about right for a saturday netto. the one on schönhauser allee is even worse because tourists treat it like a souvenir shop and block the aisles. if you want milk without the trauma, hit the edeka at eberswalder strasse around 8pm on a weeknight, it's dead quiet and they actually stock the good brand

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
