Museums about terrifying things, occultism, horror?

Hey, im in berlin for the first time and i wonder if berlin also has museums (or similar) like the museum of death? Hey, im in berlin for the first time and i wonder if berlin also has museums (or similar) like the museum of death?

honestly skip the touristy stuff and head to the düstere seiten berlin tour if you're into real occult history, they go into old bunkers and hidden spots most people walk past. for a museum, the berlinische galerie is more art than horror but they had a killer exhibit on berlin's crime scenes last year, so check their calendar. also the stasi museum is the creepiest thing in the city, not ghosts but the vibe of being watched everywhere, way more unsettling than any fake horror show. oh and the kleine anatomie sammlung at humboldt university, tiny room full of old skulls and preserved bits, feels like a hidden secret, no crowds at all.

The Sammlung Prinzhorn is the one you want, it's a museum of art made by people in psychiatric asylums, often pretty unsettling and dark. It's tucked inside the university clinic in Heidelberg though, not Berlin itself, so that's a day trip. If you're staying put, check out the Anatomical Collection at the Charité, it's a proper medical museum with old specimens and body parts in jars, definitely has that morbid vibe without being gimmicky. For something more occult, the Berlinische Galerie sometimes has temporary shows on that theme, but it's hit or miss, so check what's on before you go.

if u want occult & horror vibes, check out the düsteres berlin walking tours, they do night tours through old cemeteries like the french cemetery or the sophienkirchhof, real creepy stories about 1800s berlin crime and ghost sightings. also the ddr museum isnt scary but the stasi museum in normannenstrasse is genuinely unsettling, all that surveillance tech and interrogation rooms, feels like a horror movie but it's real. for death stuff specifically, the museum of medical history at the charité is solid, but the kleine anatomie sammlung at the humboldt university is smaller and way creepier, old skulls and mummified bits tucked in a dusty cabinet room, barely any tourists know it. skip the berlinische galerie unless u check their program, it's mostly modern art not horror.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
