Al Nasr Rd traffic in Cairo 2026, what to expect?
Honestly I'd budget double for anything crossing Al Nasr between 7 and 10am, and Friday mornings it's actually empty.
The 6th October Bridge approach backs up from about 2pm onward, so aim to be off the road before then.
yeah but if the bridge is shut for works, all that traffic dumps onto the side streets instead
2pm sounds early to me, i'd say it's the Giza bridge ramp that starts queuing first, closer to 1.30 on weekdays.
if you're heading toward Heliopolis side, the ramp at Roxy starts crawling even earlier, closer to 1.15 some days
Saturday mornings too, before about 9.
Add Thursday evenings, everyone's out late.
School run clears by 8:30, so the worst is 7 to 8:30.
more like 8:45 on Abbas El Akkad side streets
Ramadan shifts the whole morning peak later, so those 7 to 10am timings flip once the month starts.
Salah El Din Citadel tickets 2026: buy online or at gate?
Skip the mosque, go straight to the north wall for views.
the mosque's alabaster courtyard is worth 15 min tho
Second this, the tilework inside is the real draw.
15 min is about right but go early, the courtyard gets brutal in the afternoon sun with zero shade. also check if the clock tower area is open, it was closed when i went
gate tickets are fine, lines move quick before 10am, but give the complex 2.5 to 3 hrs since the military museum alone eats an hour
yeah the mosque gets packed by noon too
Agreed, and Wednesdays are quieter than weekends.
2.5 to 3 hrs is right but most of that is walking between the mosques and the walls, not the museum. I'd shave the museum to 40 min and spend the extra time at the Gawhara Palace.
Honestly the online portal's card payment often fails for foreign cards, so bring cash in EGP as backup for the ticket window.
cash desk closes around 4pm too
