Getting a tax card in Cairo 2026 as a foreigner
The Al Nasr Rd office handles foreign residents, but bring your lease and a recent utility bill, they turned away a colleague without proof of address.
also get the lease stamped by the shahr aqari office first, unstamped copies get rejected at the counter
Stamping runs about 200 EGP at the Shahr Aqari counter and takes a day, so don't leave it until the morning you plan to submit.
Notarization at the real estate registry, not the tax office.
Second this, bring the original too, they keep the copy.
Two copies, plus the landlord's ID copy.
Utility bill needs to be under three months old.
Makes sense, they're strict about the date on it.
Good to know. Do they need the contract itself translated into Arabic before you show up, or is the English copy fine at the counter? I've heard mixed things.
agreed, appointment slot via their portal first
Salah El Din Citadel tickets 2026: buy online or at gate?
Skip the mosque, go straight to the north wall for views.
the mosque's alabaster courtyard is worth 15 min tho
Second this, the tilework inside is the real draw.
15 min is about right but go early, the courtyard gets brutal in the afternoon sun with zero shade. also check if the clock tower area is open, it was closed when i went
gate tickets are fine, lines move quick before 10am, but give the complex 2.5 to 3 hrs since the military museum alone eats an hour
yeah the mosque gets packed by noon too
Agreed, and Wednesdays are quieter than weekends.
2.5 to 3 hrs is right but most of that is walking between the mosques and the walls, not the museum. I'd shave the museum to 40 min and spend the extra time at the Gawhara Palace.
Honestly the online portal's card payment often fails for foreign cards, so bring cash in EGP as backup for the ticket window.
cash desk closes around 4pm too
