πŸ—ΊοΈ Where to Start
Base yourself near Gongbei or Jida for easy access to Macau border and coastal attractions. Gongbei is lively with shopping and dining, while Jida offers quieter seaside walks. Both areas have metro stops and bus routes connecting to major sights.

πŸŒ… Day 1: Coastal Highlights
Start at Lover's Road (Qinglv Zhonglu) for a morning stroll along the coastline, then visit Zhuhai Fisher Girl statue nearby. After lunch at Jida's seafood street, head to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (opens 10:00, tickets around 380 RMB). The park is about 40 minutes by bus from Gongbei.

🏯 Day 2: Culture and Parks
Spend the morning at New Yuanming Palace (9:00-17:30, 120 RMB), a replica of Beijing's Old Summer Palace. Take bus 13 or 20 from Gongbei (30 minutes). In the afternoon, explore Zhuhai Museum (free, closed Mondays) and relax at Banzhang Mountain Park.

🏝️ Day 3: Islands and Border
Take a 30-minute ferry from Xiangzhou Port to Dong'ao Island (round-trip 120 RMB, departures every 2 hours). Enjoy beaches and hiking, then return by 4 PM. End your trip with a walk across the border to Macau for dinner (Gongbei port open 24 hours).

🚌 Getting Around
Zhuhai's bus system costs 2 RMB per ride and covers most attractions. The metro Line 1 runs from Gongbei to Tangjiawan (20 minutes). Taxis start at 10 RMB, and ride-hailing apps like Didi are widely used. Plan 30-60 minutes between distant neighborhoods.

🍜 Best Evening Spots
For dinner, try the seafood stalls at Wanzai Seafood Street (open until 11 PM) near Gongbei. For a quieter evening, stroll along the Lover's Road night market (opens 6 PM) for snacks and souvenirs. Both areas are well-lit and safe for solo travelers.

πŸ’° Local Prices
A meal at a local restaurant costs 30-60 RMB per person. Street food like grilled oysters is 10-20 RMB. Attractions like Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (380 RMB) and New Yuanming Palace (120 RMB) are the biggest expenses. Budget around 500-800 RMB per day for a comfortable trip.

πŸ“… Pro Tips for 2026
Book Chimelong tickets online in advance to avoid queues, especially on weekends. The Zhuhai-Zhuhai West intercity rail (completed 2025) now connects Gongbei to Zhuhai Airport in 30 minutes. Check weather forecasts from October to April for cooler, less humid days.

Good guide overall, I've used a similar route myself. One thing the guide doesn't mention is that the Zhuhai Museum is small and you can easily finish it in under an hour, so pairing it with Banzhang Mountain Park works well. For a cheaper lunch near Gongbei than Jida's seafood street, the food court on the second floor of the Lianhua Road pedestrian mall does decent wonton noodles and braised pork rice for around 20 RMB, and it's air-conditioned which helps in summer.

the itinerary looks solid, one thing i'd suggest is swapping the zhuhai museum for the zhuhai planning exhibition hall if you're into architecture or city history. it's right by the fisher girl statue, free entry, and has a huge model of the entire city that's pretty impressive. also for day 1, if chimelong feels too pricey or crowded, the zhuhai opera house (jing'an) does evening shows sometimes for under 200 rmb and the building itself is worth seeing lit up at night. the bus 14 from gongbei drops you right there in about 25 minutes

solid write-up, really captures the vibe well. one thing i'd add is that if you're around on a sunday, the banzhang mountain park gets packed with families flying kites and picnicking, which is nice but if you want quiet go on a weekday instead. also for getting around, the bus 2 from gongbei goes straight to the opera house and takes about 20 mins, way easier than the metro if you're not near a station. and for a quick breakfast, the egg tarts at the bakery near the gongbei port exit are like 4 rmb each and way better than the ones at the tourist stalls, they're still warm most mornings

Getting to Zhuhai in 3 months?

Headed to Zhuhai in about 3 months and trying to sort out the best way to get there from the airport or nearby cities. Any tips on transit options like bus, ferry, or train? If you're coming from Guangzhou South station, the high-speed train is actually pretty solid. It's about an hour to Zhuhai station at Gongbei, and tickets are around 70 yuan. The station drops you right by the border with Macau, so it's convenient if you're planning to hop over. I'd skip the bus from Guangzhou because traffic on the G4 can be unpredictable, especially on weekends.

honestly if you're flying into shenzhen instead of zhuhai, the ferry from shekou to jiuzhou is the move. it's like 130 yuan and takes just over an hour, way more chill than sitting on the bus through the bridge with all that customs nonsense. once you're at jiuzhou port you're right near jida which has decent food spots and is close to the beach if you wanna stretch your legs after traveling

depends which airport you fly into honestly. if it's zhuhai airport (zuh), the airport bus is fine and runs direct to gongbei or jida for like 25 yuan. if you're coming through hong kong instead, the ferry from shenzhen shekou to jiuzhou port is faster than dealing with the bridge bus imo, about an hour and 100 yuan. trains are only useful if you're already in guangzhou or shenzhen, zhuhai station is gongbei so you'll pop out right at the macau border
