yeah the guide covers the big spots but one thing i'd say is if you're around Putuo Mountain, skip the overpriced tourist restaurants near the ferry and walk five minutes into the back alleys. there's a place called Old Chen's Kitchen that does a mean spicy squid stir-fry for like 30 CNY a plate, no english menu but just point at the tank. also the grilled oyster stalls at Shenjiamen are solid but the ones on the left side of the road near the pharmacy have a better chili garlic sauce, i always grab a dozen there before hitting the barbecue street
honestly the guide is pretty solid but im surprised they didnt mention the raw drunken crab at the Haixianlou, its a seasonal thing usually around october and november, costs about 60 CNY per crab and its this insane umami bomb with ginger and shaoxing wine. also if youre at the Shenjiamen night market the grilled oyster stalls are good but the ones near the far end by the ferry dock have bigger oysters for the same price, like 10 CNY for 3 but theyre noticeably plumper. the seafood noodles they mention are a must but tbh the broth at Laoma gets a bit watery on busy nights, i prefer the small family place on Donggang Street called Xiao Zhou's, their broth is richer and they use fresh clams not frozen ones

this is a great breakdown, i've been coming to zhoushan for years and you hit the big stuff. one thing i'd flag is the ferry schedule on day 3 for daishan, the last boat back to shenjiamen is usually 5pm but in winter it can be 4pm, so check the board at the terminal before you head out. also the shuanghe ancient town is nice but it's small, you can see it all in an hour or so, then walk over to the nearby fishing harbor for a beer at one of the little stalls on the seawall, it's a chill way to kill time before the ferry.
for food, the seafood noodles at the night market are fine but the razor clam noodles at a place called a-yi's on donghe road near the bus station are better, it's a tiny shop with a red sign and they do a huge bowl for 22 kuai. honestly i'd skip daishan if you're only here three days and do a second day on zhujiajian, the beach at nansha is worth a full afternoon and the sunset there is way better than anything in shenjiamen, plus you can hit the dongsha village in the morning and have a relaxed day
ngl this is a really well put together guide, i've lived here for a few years and you nailed the main stuff. one thing i'd add is for the shenjiamen night market, the grilled squid is good but the real move is the fried crab balls from the old lady at the second stall on the left, she's been there for like 15 years and they're only 15 kuai for a big cup. also if you're hitting putuo mountain on a weekend expect the ferry lines to be a mess around 9am, i always go for the 7am departure and it's way quieter, you'll have puji temple almost to yourself for a bit
for day 2 on zhujiajian, the bus is fine but honestly the k503 can be packed with tourists, i take a taxi from the shenjiamen bus station roundabout for about 35 kuai and it drops you right at the nansha entrance. the dongsha fishing village is cool but the real hidden spot is a short walk past it to a little pier where the old fishermen fix their nets, great photo spot and nobody's ever there. the salt fields on daishan are a bit meh unless you're into that stuff, i'd rather spend the morning at the shuanghe ancient town and grab lunch at a random noodle shop near the ferry terminal, they do a mean bowl of razor clam noodles for like 22 ku
Solid guide, covers the main spots well. One thing about Putuo Mountain: the ferry from Shenjiamen drops you at the main pier, but there's a smaller one at the west side near the cable car. If you're only there for a day, take the ferry to the main pier, hit Puji Temple first, then take the bus to the cable car station to go up to the Guanyin Statue. Walking from Puji up the stairs takes about an hour and it's steep, the cable car is CNY 40 one way and saves your legs for the rest of the trip.
Also, the seafood noodles at the night market are fine, but there's a small shop on Wenhua Road called Lao Zhou's that does a better bowl for about the same price, around CNY 25. It's a block off the main strip and quieter. I'd skip Daishan if you're only here three days and spend that time on Zhujiajian instead, the beach at Nansha is worth a full afternoon and the sunset there beats anything in Shenjiamen.
