the dumpling place on minquan street is solid but honestly the best huaiyang dumplings i've had are from a tiny stall near the east gate of the mausoleum, no english sign just a red awning. they do a wild mushroom filling in autumn that's incredible and it's like 10 rmb for a plate. also if you're at dragon lake in the morning, there's a guy who sells fried dough sticks and hot soy milk from a cart by the south entrance around 7am, perfect before exploring. the wetland park is nice but bring bug spray, the mosquitoes near the reeds are aggressive in summer.
seconding the wetland park warning about bugs, seriously don't forget repellent. if you're into photography, dragon lake at sunrise is unreal, the mist sits low over the water and the willows frame it perfectly, i got some of my best shots there. also there's a small temple on the east side of the lake called xiangshan temple, not in many guides, free entry and the old caretaker will sometimes offer you tea if he's around

good guide, i'd add that the bus system is dirt cheap but if you're going to huaiyang multiple times a day, get a local bus card from the kiosk at zhoukou station, it drops each ride to like 0.80 yuan and works on all routes. the confucius temple area has a morning wet market on baofeng road around 7am where you can grab fresh fruit like persimmons for 3 yuan a kilo, way less than the supermarket. one thing nobody mentions is that the free tai chi groups at people's park will let you join in if you just stand there looking interested, i ended up learning a few moves from a retired teacher who barely spoke any english
