yeah the transit card tip is legit, i got one at the bus station near the train station for like 20 yuan deposit and it made hopping on and off so much easier, saved me a few yuan over the week. also if you're into hiking, zimaling park has this trail that goes up to a little pagoda with a decent view of the city, totally free and most tourists miss it because they stick to the main paths. one thing the guide skipped is the public bikes are great but the app's only in chinese, so either get a local to help you set it up or just stick to the rental shops near sunwen west road where they speak basic english
