solid plan honestly, but day 3 is a lot of back and forth. if you're up for it, skip chateau changyu-castel in penglai and instead hit the penglai ocean world right next to the pavilion, it's huge and has a real seal show, kids love it and it's like 150 rmb but worth it for a few hours. also, the last bus from penglai is actually 17:30 now, not 18:00, learned that the hard way last year and had to split a taxi with some strangers for 180 rmb each. chaoyang street mornings are best before 10am when it's quiet and the fresh seafood stalls are out, i grabbed a bowl of yantai mian for 15 rmb there and it was the best meal of my trip.
yo this is a solid write up, really captures the vibe well. one thing i'd add for day 1 is that chaoyang street actually has a bunch of little alleys branching off it, not just the main drag. if you duck down xiangyang li, there's this tiny bakery that does fresh almond cookies for like 5 rmb, they've been there forever and the owner is this old lady who doesn't speak a word of english but she'll just smile and hand you a bag. also, for the binshan square walk at night, there's a guy who sets up a little telescope near the statue around 7pm, 10 rmb to look at the moon or jupiter, it's a nice little touch i didn't see in any guide. day 3 penglai tip: the bus station has a tiny snack counter that sells these fried sesame balls for 2 rmb, grab a few for the ride, they're way better than anything you'll find in the penglai tourist area.
this is a really good breakdown, i've done almost this exact route a few times. for day 1, if you're into wine at all, skip the zhangyu museum and go to the actual zhangyu winery itself out in laishan, it's like a 40 min taxi ride but the tasting room is way better and they have a little underground cellar you can walk through, 100 rmb for a tour and 3 tastings. also, the golden beach on day 2 is nice but if you want quieter water, head a bit further east to yangma island, it's a 15 min taxi from the beach and the water is clearer, less crowded on weekdays, and there's a little temple on the island you can hike up to for free. penglai pavilion is worth the hype but the crowds get insane by 11am, get there right when it opens at 7:30 and you'll have the place mostly to yourself for an hour or so.

this is a really good writeup, covers everything i'd tell a friend visiting. one thing i'd add is that the boardwalk between yantai mountain and the first bathing beach is about 2km and has these little pavilions where locals play mahjong in the afternoons, it's a nice spot to just sit and watch for a bit. also if you're near chaoyang street around lunch, the xianggelila bakery on the corner does these egg tarts for 5 rmb that are still warm, perfect with a coffee from the shop next door
for the night market on nandajie, the grilled oysters are usually 20 rmb for 6 and they're way better than the ones at the fancier seafood places, the guy at the second stall from the north end has been there for years and his garlic sauce is the best. the wine tasting at zhangyu museum is fine but honestly i'd rather spend that 80 rmb on a bottle from the changyu outlet and sit on the rocks by the water at sunset, that's the real yantai experience to me

also if you're into wine, skip the fancy chateau tours and just hit the changyu tasting room on dongbei street near the train station, it's a tiny spot run by an older couple who'll pour you samples for free and tell you stories about the old days. way more authentic than the touristy stuff imo
