yeah the guide's pretty thorough, i'd just say don't sleep on the morning wet market near dafeng reserve, it's about a 10 min walk from the main entrance. around 7am the old ladies sell these little wild water chestnuts they dig up from the marshes, super sweet and crunchy, maybe 5 yuan for a bag. also if you're at the museum and the salt stuff's closed, the real deal is the ancient salt field ruins out in xituan village, it's like 40 min by bus but you can still see the old evaporation ponds and wooden troughs, no entry fee
solid write-up, really captures the city well. one thing i'd add is that the wetland reserve has a small observation tower near the二号门 (gate 2) that most tourists skip. it's a bit of a walk from the main path but gives you a killer panoramic view of the marshes at sunset, especially when the cranes are flying back to roost. also, the museum's free entry is great but they close the second floor exhibits around 4:30 pm so plan accordingly if you want to see the salt history stuff
the water street night walk is nice but honestly the real vibe is going there around 5pm when the vendors are just setting up. you can watch them fry these little flatbreads called 鸡蛋饼 (egg pancakes) right on the street, they stuff them with pickled veggies and a crispy wonton skin inside, only 5 yuan. grab one and walk down to the canal steps near the east bridge, that's where the old guys sit and play chinese chess, nobody bothers you and the lanterns reflect on the water before it gets crowded

Yancheng nightlife for a quick solo trip?
wanda plaza is fine but its mostly chains & gets dead by 11 on weekdays. if ur here on a weekend check the small bars along jiefang road, closer to the old town side, thats where locals actually drink. solo is fine there, ppl are chatty after a few, just dont expect much english
if ur into live music there's a couple small bars near Yancheng Normal University area, students keep em open late and its easy to just sit at the bar solo. ngl weekends are teh only time worth going out tho, weeknights everything shuts by like 10
honestly Yancheng nightlife is pretty laid back, not a huge club scene. try the area around Wanda Plaza, few bars there where solo folks can just grab a drink. jin sha hu area has some too if u want something quieter
