The night market tip is solid, but if you want something with a bit more atmosphere, check out the rooftop bar at the old textile warehouse on zhongshan road. It's a bit of a walk from the center, but the view over the river at midnight is worth it, and they do a decent local craft beer for around 15 yuan. They close at 2am, so it's a good last stop after the skewers. Also, the noodle shop across from the post office stays open till 3am on weekends, the beef broth is the real hangover cure. I'd skip the hotel bar entirely, it's overpriced and dead.

If you're out past midnight, the 24 hour dumpling joint behind the old cinema is the real move, it's just a counter and a few stools but the lamb dumplings are killer and it fills up with cab drivers around 1am. Also there's a lady who sets up a tea cart by the south bridge at 10pm, she does this weird herbal mix that's supposed to help you sleep, tastes like grass but it's a fun thing to try before you head back. I wouldn't stress about finding a fancy bar, the charm's in the random spots.

tbh most people sleep on the night market near the east gate of the temple, it runs till like 1am and the grilled skewers are way better than the tourist strip spots. if u want a proper bar, there's this tiny place called hei mao on fumin road, it's basically a living room with a karaoke machine and the owner's a retired chef who'll feed u if u stay late. hotel's fine if u just wanna crash early, but honestly walking the river path after 10 is chill, no one bothers u and the bridge lights are kinda pretty. just avoid the clubs near the train station, they're all bait for tourists and the drinks are watered down.
