auntie chen's is legit, been going there since i was a kid. the broth turns almost milky white by lunchtime, that's how you know it's good. if she's out of the pickled mustard greens ask for the chili oil instead, she makes it herself and it's got a nice slow burn
for the qilou street walk, go early morning around 7am before the shops open. the arcades are empty and you get this weird quiet vibe with just the old tile roofs and a few stray cats. the light hits the columns at a nice angle too for photos
the wuzhou bridge walk is better from the south side entry, there's a small park underneath with some benches where you can sit and watch the barges go by. the city lights reflect on the water around 8pm, makes for a decent phone wallpaper

If you're at Qilou Old Street, take the side alley near the tea shop at number 34, it leads to a small courtyard with a banyan tree that's been there since the Qing dynasty. Locals call it the "old man tree" and you'll usually see a few grandmas playing cards under it.
For the river cruise, the 7 PM departure is best because you catch the sunset over the Xi River and then the bridge lights turn on about 20 minutes in. I'd skip the overpriced snacks they sell on board and grab a bag of roasted chestnuts from the vendor at the port entrance instead, they're 5 RMB and much better.
oh the museum is worth it but honestly the best part is the rooftop garden nobody mentions. there's a little staircase near the ceramics exhibit that takes you up, great view of the river and you can see the old arcade rooftops from above. the museum cafe also does a decent lotus seed pastry for like 8rmb
for mount baiyun if you go on a weekday morning you'll prob have the summit almost to yourself. i went on a saturday once and it was packed with families doing morning exercises, still nice but less peaceful. bring water though theres no stalls
What's the nightlife like in Wuzhou?
nightlife here is pretty lowkey compared to bigger cities but it has its own charm. the area around panyu road has a few decent bars that stay open till late, most are small and local with cheap beer. if you want food, the night market near wuzhou railway station is good for grilled oysters and skewers, they go until maybe 1am on weekends. honestly it's more about hanging out at a street stall with friends than club-hopping, so don't expect anything fancy
yeah the other reply nailed it about panyu road being the main strip. if you want something a bit different, check out the riverside walk near guijiang road, there's a few tea houses that turn into casual drinking spots after 9pm. they do this local snack called zongzi that's surprisingly good with beer, and the view of the river at night is nice. also the night market near the longmu temple area has better dessert options imo, get the taro balls in ginger syrup if they have em
honestly the nightlife here is pretty chill but there's this spot on wenhua road called lao cheng that does late night hotpot til like 3am. it's more of a vibe than a club, people just sit around eating and drinking baijiu. if you want something louder, the ktv places near the west river bridge are fun if you go with a group, they're cheap and open all night. the night market near the pedestrian street has better variety than the railway station one imo, their stinky tofu is legit and they sell this weird fruit wine that locals swear by
