the cycling route is solid but if you're not up for 40k, you can rent ebikes instead for like 60 rmb and it cuts the ride to under 2 hours. also lots of people miss the little seafood market near the east gate of chengshantou, it's not listed anywhere but the dried squid there is half the price of the shops inside the scenic area
honestly this guide nails it, especially the swan lake tip about going early. i went last december around 10am and it was already packed with photographers, but the boardwalks are long enough that u can still find a quiet spot if u walk further out. the swans are way more active at dawn too, they do this cool synchronized takeoff thing around 7am
one thing i'd add is the Rongcheng Museum on Qingdao Road, its free and has a whole floor on the local fishing history with old boat models and net displays. takes maybe an hour to go through and its a good backup if the weather turns. also the sea urchin steamed egg from the guide is legit, but try the grilled squid skewers from the old lady at the south end of Gangxi Road night market, she uses a different sauce that's sweeter and smokier than the other stalls
fwiw the sunset at Huayuan Bay is nice but if you want something more dramatic go to the eastern side of Chengshantou around 5pm in winter. the light hits the cliffs differently and you get this orange glow on the Bridge to Heaven rock that looks almost fake. bring a jacket though, the wind off the Yellow Sea is brutal even in spring
also the fishing tours from Shidao Port are worth it but book thru your hotel or a local, the random guys on the dock tend to overcharge. I paid 120 rmb last october through my guesthouse and we caught like 8 sea bass in two hours, they grilled them right there with salt and pepper. way better than any restaurant version

yo this is a solid itinerary, i've lived here a few years and can vouch for most of it. one thing i'd add is that the Old City Wall has a small gate on the east side that most tourists miss - go around back and there's a quiet courtyard with a 500-year-old ginkgo tree, locals call it "the gold tree" in autumn. also, for Day 1 dinner at the bay, skip Hai Feng and walk two minutes north to the unmarked stall with the blue awning - same price but their grilled squid is way fresher, they catch it that morning.
the mountain hike is spot on but heads up, the cable car closes at 4pm not 6pm like some guides say, i got stuck walking down once. bring cash for the bus back too, the card reader on Bus 101 is finicky. for the night market, the spicy crayfish at stall #7 is better than the more popular #12, the owner's been there 20 years.
Silver Beach is nice but if you want quieter water, take Bus 202 one more stop to Little Silver Cove - same sand but half the people, and the Fishing Village Restaurant has a sister spot there called Grandma Chen's that does a killer clam chowder for 45 CNY. the amusement park is fine for kids but adults might prefer the aquarium, the jellyfish exhibit is legit.
last tip - the Tea House on Lotus Street does a late-night
solid guide, covers the basics well. for the museum, it's free entry but they do ask for a phone number at the front desk, just make one up if you don't want to give yours. the old city wall is nice but the courtyard with the ginkgo tree the other person mentioned is only really impressive in late october, otherwise it's just a normal tree.
on day 2, that cold barley tea stall is good but if you want something more substantial, there's a tiny noodle shack called Auntie Wei's at the base of the mountain, right where bus 101 drops you. she does a pork belly noodle soup for 12 CNY that's way better than the stuff on noodle street, and she's open from 7am to 2pm so you can hit it before the hike or after if you're back early.
silver beach is fine but the water gets murky after noon when the tide goes out, go in the morning. little silver cove is quieter but there's no lifeguard, so keep that in mind. the amusement park is definitely more for kids, the aquarium is the better bet for adults, they have a touch tank with starfish and sea cucumbers that's oddly satisfying.
for the tea house, they do a cold osmanthus tea in summer that's perfect after a hot day, ask for it specifically. and if you're there late, they sometimes have a live guzheng player on
this is a really solid plan, i've been here for about 8 years and you've covered the highlights well. one thing i'd add is on day 2, when you're coming down from the mountain, stop at the little tea stall just past the cable car station - it's run by an old guy who's been there forever, he does this cold barley tea that's perfect after the hike and only 3 CNY. most people miss it cause they're rushing to the bus.
for day 3, if u go to little silver cove like the other reply mentioned, the walk from the main beach is about 15 mins along the shore, not bad at all. and honestly the aquarium is way better than the amusement park for adults, the jellyfish room is super chill and they have this tunnel where u can see sharks swimming over u. the Ferris wheel at the park is kinda creaky, i wouldn't trust it tbh.
one thing the guide doesn't mention is the morning market on East Street near the museum - if u get there before 10am there's this lady selling fresh soy milk and fried dough sticks for like 5 CNY, way better than the tourist breakfast spots. just follow the smell of sesame oil.
