one thing the guide doesnt mention is that theres a pretty good night market near the north gate of Langzhong Ancient City that opens around 7pm. theyve got grilled fish skewers and spicy tofu that hits different after walking around all day. also if you're into photography the Huaguang Tower looks amazing at sunset with the orange light hitting the old rooftops. prices at the night market are cheap too like 5-10 yuan for most snacks
imo the guide is solid but one thing i'd add is that the Jincheng Mountain hike is way better if you go early like 6 or 7am before it gets crowded and hot. the mist over the Jialing River in the morning is pretty stunning and you'll prob have the summit temple all to yourself. also theres a small noodle stand at the base of the mountain that opens around that time and their nanchong noodles are only 10 yuan with extra chili oil which hits different after the climb

yeah this is a great breakdown of the city. one thing i'd add is that the night market on Wenhua Road is actually better for the grilled skewers than the hotpot, the little stall near the south entrance does these lamb skewers with cumin that are like 2 RMB each and they're way more fun to eat while walking around. also for langzhong, if you have time after zhangfei temple, the hua guang tower is worth the climb but the real hidden spot is the old residential courtyard at the end of xia street, it's not marked but there's a tiny sign in chinese, you can pay like 5 RMB to go in and see the original ming dynasty wood carvings, most tourists walk right past it. your prices are pretty accurate but the botanical garden is closer to 15 rmb now i think, still cheap enough
