ngl the siberian tiger park is kinda the main attraction for me, but go on a weekday if you can. I went on a saturday once and the caged bus was packed with families, the tigers were just lying around sleeping because it was too hot. the 10:30 feeding time is way better, they actually get active and you can see them jump for the meat. also there's a small souvenir shop near the exit that sells these knitted tiger dolls made by local women, theyre like 20 yuan and way nicer than the plastic junk at the main gate.
the riverside walk is underrated honestly, especially around dusk. grab some grilled corn from one of the carts near the bridge, its like 5 yuan and they char it right there. theres a spot near the south end where old guys play chinese chess on foldout tables, I sat and watched for like 20 minutes once, nobody minded. its a nice break from all the tourist stuff.
one thing I wish I knew earlier is that the bus to jingpo lake leaves from the east bus station, not the main one near the train station. I wasted an hour walking to the wrong place. its about 25 yuan for the ticket and takes 2 hours, but the scenery along the way is pretty nice, lots of farmland and hills.
I have to agree with the museum suggestion, but I would add that the Russian influence section actually has some interesting old photographs of the railway station from the early 1900s that give you a sense of how the city looked back then. If you are there in winter, the ski resort is fine but the real gem is the ice and snow sculpture exhibition they set up along the river in January, it is much less crowded than Harbin's and entry is only 30 CNY. One thing the guide did not mention is that Dongyi Street gets packed around 7 PM on weekends so if you want a seat at the popular grilled fish stalls, go closer to 5 PM when they open.
the museum tip is solid but heads up the bohai kingdom section is way more interesting than the russian stuff, they have these cool stone turtle statues from the tang dynasty era that most people walk right past. also if you go to jingpo lake try to catch the first bus from the main station around 7am, you'll beat the tour groups and have the waterfall viewpoint mostly to yourself for an hour or so. the underground forest is worth the extra 50 yuan but wear good shoes, those stairs get slippery after rain and there's no railings in some spots

honestly this is a solid plan, but for day 1 i'd swap the order a bit. beishan park is better in late afternoon for sunset light over the city, the museum is fine for morning when it's quieter. the bada guan river walk is nice but it gets crowded after 4pm with locals doing their evening stroll, so morning is actually more peaceful there.
for day 2, the bus to jingpo lake is reliable but the 6:30am departure fills up fast during summer weekends. get there by 6:15 to grab a seat, otherwise u might stand for an hour. also the crater forest trail is pretty steep in spots, wear proper shoes not just sneakers.
snow town in winter is gorgeous but honestly the bus ride is brutal in snow, sometimes takes 5+ hours if roads are bad. if u go in january bring hand warmers and a good face mask, the wind off the river cuts right through coats. the 2pm bus back is usually on time but check the weather app that morning
