Seeing a doctor in Gejiu 2026: where to go and costs

Any idea which hospital or clinic locals use for that, roughly what a consultation costs, and whether foreign insurance is accepted at the main hospitals? I'm staying near Nhà hàng Sơn Đông if that helps narrow down what's close.

The Nhà hàng Sơn Đông name is a Vietnamese restaurant listing, which is odd for Gejiu, so double-check your address before you set out. The main option is Gejiu People's Hospital (个旧市人民医院) on Jianshe Road; consultation runs maybe 10 to 30 yuan. Bring cash and expect to pay upfront, since foreign insurance usually isn't accepted directly.

Second this, and keep every receipt for a claim back home.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Receipts help but itemized invoices with the hospital's official stamp carry more weight for claims.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

agree, the stamped 发票 (fapiao) is what insurers actually want, not the little cash slip. ask for it at the 收费处 window before you leave, they sometimes need you to request it same day.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Bring your passport, registration desk asks for it.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Passport plus a photocopy of the ID page saves you a trip if the desk keeps one, and the copy shop by the main gate charges about 1 yuan.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Outpatient hours end around 5pm, go morning.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah that address sounds off, gejiu's nowhere near the border so just confirm it's actually in yunnan before heading out

Working from cafes in Gejiu 2026: wifi and hours?

How's the wifi at places like Quán Trà Sữa Henry Tả, and are there cafes where you can sit for a few hours without feeling like you're overstaying? Also curious whether anyone there keeps hours overlapping with Europe or the US.
arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

i was in Gejiu last october, not living there, but worked a few days from cafes. Quán Trà Sữa Henry Tả is a milk tea spot, fine for an hour but not a work cafe. better to look around the Jinhu area, the bigger coffee shops there have decent wifi and nobody rushes u. for europe hours you'll be up early anyway, gejiu is quiet before 9 so that's actually ur best window

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

sounds right, mornings are dead quiet

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

the early window is real but most coffee spots dont unlock their doors till 8 or later, so ur first hour might be at a noodle shop with a thermos. after 9 things pick up & the wifi holds steadier once staff are in

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah the wifi there is fine but bring ur own hotspot as backup, cafe routers drop when it rains

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

good to know about the mornings, do the bigger places open that early or is it mostly the little noodle spots

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Noted on mornings, though some spots near the old town only open closer to ten.

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

Jinhu spots fill up after 10 with students

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Second this, plus a backup power bank.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

That pre-9 window is real, but staff at the bigger spots often don't have the router on until they've opened up properly, so test the connection before you settle in. Also worth asking about a plug point, since most tables near the window don't have one.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fair point, testing the router first is key, and a power bank saves you when plugs are scarce.
