best northwestern vietnamese food near Gejiu?
Luong Son Quan is in Hekou across the border, not Gejiu itself, so plan a day for the crossing. Taxis from Gejiu run around 200 yuan, or take a minivan toward the Hekou border gate.
yeah the border crossing can eat a couple hours depending on the queue so factor that in
queues thin out after 2pm but then ur rushing the food before kitchens wind down
tbh bring your passport and check the visa situation first, that part trips people up more than the transport
Worth adding that the Hekou crossing is pedestrian only, so the minivan drops you at the gate and you walk through.
Hekou side closes for lunch, roughly 11:30 to 1:30.
the 200 yuan fare is one way, not round trip
bus from gejiu station, morning only
how early do those morning departures run, like before 7 or closer to 9?
first one leaves around 7:30 i think
Nhà hàng Sơn Đông in Gejiu, worth a detour?
Two people, around 150k VND, go early.
go early is right, by 7pm the good stuff runs out & you're stuck with whatever's left
Add the lunch special, weekdays only.
Weekday lunch is cheaper than dinner so that 150k figure prob only holds at midday.
Not a local spot, skip the detour.
Yeah I'd second that, the place is fine but nothing you'd reroute a trip for honestly.
Fair enough, though I've heard the lunch crowd there is mostly office workers rather than tourists.
Honestly the name gets repeated more than the food does, and it's a fair walk from the main drag anyway.
The reputation spread through word of mouth on WeChat groups rather than any actual food writing, which is why it outpaces the reality.
Agree, the tour buses never stop there.
