one thing the guide doesnt mention is that the cold noodles at yalujiang korean restaurant are actually better in summer when they use that icy slush instead of just cold broth. the texture of the noodles gets chewier and the whole thing is way more refreshing on a hot day. also if you're there for the bbq, ask for the ssamjang on the side instead of it being pre-mixed, lets you control the spice level yourself
the street food guide is spot on but i think they missed the best hidden gem in dandong - the little korean corn dog spot tucked behind the dandong hotel. its not even on maps, just a tiny cart that shows up around 5pm. the guy makes them fresh with mozzarella inside and coats them in sugar and ketchup, 8 yuan each. way better than the standard ones at the night market imo
I think the guide undersells the breakfast scene around Zhenxing Road. There's a row of tiny shops that open around 6:30 AM and they all serve jianbing (Chinese crepes) with a Korean twist, stuffed with kimchi and bulgogi for 8 CNY each. The one with the red awning three doors down from Dongbei Flavor House is the best, the owner has been making them for 15 years and her sauce is noticeably sweeter than the others. Grab one and eat it while walking along the river, the morning light on the bridge is worth getting up early for.

if you have time on day three after fenghuang mountain, skip jinjiangshan and walk the path along the river going east from the broken bridge instead. there's a little pavilion about 15 minutes down where locals play cards and you get a clear view of the north korean guard tower without any crowds around you.
the hushan great wall ticket includes a small museum at the base that most people walk past, it's got some old weapons and uniforms, takes maybe 15 minutes but gives you context for what you're looking at from the wall itself. worth a quick stop before you start climbing.
