**🍜 Must-Try Jeju Dishes** Start with heukdwaeji, the island's famous black pork, grilled at tabletop restaurants and wrapped in lettuce. Another iconic dish is galchi jorim, braised hairtail fish, often served spicy with radish. For something lighter, try jeonbokjuk, abalone porridge, a comforting breakfast staple. These three dishes define Jeju's culinary identity and are available at most local eateries. **🏪 Top Local Restaurants** For black pork, head to Heukdwaeji Geori (Black Pork Street) in Jeju City, where restaurants like Dombedon (15 Gwangyang 14-gil) offer sets from 15,000 to 20,000 won per person. In Seogwipo, Olae Guksa (10 Jungjeong-ro) serves hearty hairtail stew for around 12,000 won. For abalone porridge, Myeongjin Jeonbok (941-1 Gwideok-ri, Hallim) is a local favorite, open from 8 AM to 8 PM, with bowls priced at 10,000 to 15,000 won. **🌮 Street Food and Markets** Dongmun Market in Jeju City (9 Dongmun-ro) is the best spot for street eats like tteokbokki, hotteok, and fresh seafood. Try the grilled squid skewers for 3,000 won or a bag of hallabong tangerines for 5,000 won. The market is open daily from 8 AM to 9 PM, with peak activity in the evening. Seogwipo's Olle Market (18 Jungang-ro) is another great option, especially for its famous garlic bread and citrus juices. **🍣 Seafood Specialties** Jeju's waters yield excellent seafood, and raw fish (hwe) is a must. Visit the Haenyeo (female diver) restaurants near Seongsan Ilchulbong, such as Haenyeo House (20 Ilchul-ro), where a plate of fresh abalone and conch costs around 25,000 won. For a unique experience, try sea urchin rice at Myeongjin Abalone in Hallim, open 9 AM to 9 PM. Expect to pay 15,000 to 30,000 won for seafood mains. **🍊 Citrus and Desserts** Jeju is famous for its hallabong tangerines, and you'll find citrus-flavored treats everywhere. Stop by Cafe Delmoondo (33 Hamdeok-ro) for a hallabong smoothie (7,000 won) with ocean views. For dessert, try the green tea roll cake at Osulloc Tea Museum (15 Sinhwayeoksa-ro) for 6,000 won. Many cafes also offer tangerine ade and chocolate, perfect for a sweet break. **🍲 Noodle and Soup Spots** Jeju's noodle culture shines at places like Jamae Guksu (22 Gwangyang 14-gil) in Jeju City, serving pork noodles for 8,000 won from 10 AM to 8 PM. Another classic is momguk, a pork and seaweed soup traditionally eaten on the island, available at Hyangchon (5 Jungang-ro) for 9,000 won. These comforting bowls are ideal for lunch or a quick dinner. **🍱 Budget Eats and Tips** For budget travelers, convenience stores offer kimbap and ramen for under 5,000 won, but don't miss local bakeries like Paris Baguette for cheap pastries. Many restaurants have lunch specials from 10,000 won, and street food stalls in markets sell snacks for 2,000 to 5,000 won. Tipping is not customary in Korea, so your total cost is what you see on the menu. **🚌 Getting Around for Food** Jeju's public bus system is efficient and cheap, with fares around 1,200 won. To reach Black Pork Street, take bus 300 or 500 from Jeju Bus Terminal to Dongmun Market stop. For Seogwipo, use bus 182 from Jeju City, which takes about an hour. Taxis are also affordable for short trips, with base fares of 3,800 won.
