Stopped by Foundry Brewing while visiting and the guy at the bar said the card machine was down and asked me to pay in cash or WeChat to his personal account instead of the till. Is that a known trick in Beijing taprooms in 2026 or just how small breweries run here? Also the flight prices seemed high for what you get, anyone know if that's standard.

Personal WeChat transfers are normal at small Beijing breweries.

foundry's taproom is on the second floor of that courtyard off xingfucun, easy to miss. the card machine thing is usually real, their terminal is old and drops off the network, but paying to a personal account means no fapiao and no receipt if something goes wrong, so ask for a handwritten one. flights there do run pricey, 90 to 120 for four small pours is about normal for the craft spots in that area, the pints are the better value
