Do you need to book tickets online in advance or can you just turn up at the gate, and are weekends noticeably worse than weekdays?

Weekends in April get packed with school groups, so aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Book online a few days ahead anyway, the gate queue at Shunyi is slow and the app price is usually cheaper.

yeah & the online slot usually lets u skip the paper ticket window entirely, just scan ur qr straight at the gate.

Image marlen local ·

true, but the qr scanner at the gate acts up when it rains so keep a screenshot handy. saved us a soggy queue last spring

Second this, grab the 9am slot before the coaches roll in.

Book online because the on-site price is a good 20 to 30 yuan higher.

Avoid the tomb-sweeping holiday week too

Working remotely near Beijing Zoo in 2026?

How reliable is the wifi generally, and do people there usually work on US or Europe hours? Also curious how long most remote workers tend to stay in the city.

the zoo area is mostly locals & families so quiet cafe corners are scarce, but the cafe upstairs at the capital library branch on baishiqiao lu is decent for calls. wifi is fine citywide, rarely the issue. most remote folks i know do 3 to 6 months then bounce

arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

yep, plus cafe at the beijing exhibition center across the road

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image zhangyim local ·

that exhibition center one gets loud during trade fairs though, check the schedule before u plan a call-heavy day

Wudaokou works too, quieter before noon

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Capital library cafe needs a reader card for the wifi though

Ngl the zoo area is thin on cafes but Zhongguancun is a short ride and people there work Europe hours, not US.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down
Image karolina local ·

US hours means 1am starts out here

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

europe hours tracks, most of the remote crowd in zhongguancun is on german or uk client calls. line 4 gets u there in like 15 min from the zoo stop, though rush hour is packed. check the cafe at ideal space on zhichun lu if u go
