Best cheesesteak spot in Seoul?

Question

Im craving a legit philly cheesesteak. Is there any in seoul? I tried one in itaewon and was disappointed

yeah the hongdae spot is good but if you're near gangnam there's subway sandwiches in yeoksam that does a surprisingly decent philly-style. i know it's a chain but the one on teheran-ro uses real ribeye and the bread holds up better than most places here. 12k for the large and they don't skimp on the peppers

honestly the best i've found is at philly cheesesteak in hongdae near the main street. it's run by a guy who actually lived in philly for a bit, uses amoroso rolls imported and everything. the one in itaewon is overpriced and skimpy on the cheese whiz, this place piles it on proper. they also have wit or witout onions which i appreciate. around 15k won for a solid size

ngl the best ive had was at this tiny spot in sinchon called philly cheesesteak house, not the hongdae one. its tucked behind the main sinchon station exit 4, kinda hard to find but they use actual cheez whiz which most places here dont bother with. the guy told me he gets his rolls from a bakery in itaewon that does a close enough amoroso dupe. 13k and they add jalapenos if you ask which i weirdly like

fwiw the best one i've had is at the philly cheesesteak in hongdae too, but the real move is to go during off-peak hours cause they get slammed and the quality drops when they're rushing. the guy who runs it actually trained in south philly for a bit, which explains why he's so anal about the roll situation. 15k is worth it for the real amoroso imo, most other places here use some sad bread that falls apart by the second bite

i haven't tried the hongdae one yet but gogi guys in hannam is decent if you want something less greasy. the real hidden gem is at a place called vatos in gangnam, they do a korean-mexican fusion version with bulgogi beef and gochujang aioli, not authentic at all but actually tasty. runs about 18k for a full plate and comes with fries. if you want the real deal tho you gotta go to the philly spot in hongdae, that's the closest you'll get in seoul
