**🏰 Explore Konda Reddy Fort** Start your Kurnool visit at Konda Reddy Fort, a 12th-century structure in the heart of the city near the Tungabhadra riverbank. The fort opens daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and entry is free for all visitors. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the city and the river, and look for the ancient cannon and inscriptions that hint at its layered history. Insider tip: visit on a weekday morning to avoid crowds and catch the soft light for photos. **🕉️ Visit the Temples** Kurnool is home to several significant temples, including the Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple on Station Road and the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt near the fort. The Sai Baba Temple is open from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with special poojas at 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM. For a quieter experience, head to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in the nearby village of Mantralayam, about 90 km from Kurnool, which is busiest on weekends. Remember to remove footwear before entering and dress modestly. **🦁 Discover Rollapadu Sanctuary** About 60 km from Kurnool city, Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for nature lovers, especially between October and March when the weather is pleasant. The sanctuary is home to the endangered Great Indian Bustard and blackbuck, and guided tours are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry fees are around INR 50 for Indians and INR 300 for foreigners, with an additional charge for vehicles. Bring binoculars and a camera to spot the diverse birdlife. **🏞️ Relax at Tungabhadra Dam** The Tungabhadra Dam, located about 50 km from Kurnool in Hospet, is a great spot for a day trip. The dam is open to visitors from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the musical fountain show in the evening is a highlight. Entry to the dam area is free, but the musical fountain charges a small fee of INR 20 per person. Insider tip: the best time to visit is during the monsoon when the dam is full and the gardens are lush. **🛍️ Shop at Local Markets** For an authentic shopping experience, explore the bustling markets of Kurnool, such as the Old Town area near the fort and the Sunday Market on Station Road. The Sunday Market is open from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and is perfect for picking up fresh produce, spices, and local handicrafts. Bargaining is expected, so don't hesitate to negotiate prices. Look for Kurnool's famous handloom sarees and traditional jewelry. **🍛 Taste Local Cuisine** Kurnool's food scene is a mix of Andhra and Hyderabadi flavors, with must-try dishes like biryani, pulihora, and spicy curries. Head to Hotel Sree Kanya on Station Road for a filling thali meal priced around INR 200, or try the biryani at Bawarchi Restaurant near the bus stand. For street food, visit the evening stalls near the fort, where you can sample mirchi bajji and punugulu for under INR 50. Most restaurants open by 11:00 AM and serve until 10:00 PM. **🚌 Getting Around Kurnool** Kurnool is well-connected by road and rail, with the Kurnool Railway Station and a major bus stand linking to cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore. Within the city, auto-rickshaws are the most convenient way to get around, with short trips costing around INR 50 to 100. You can also use app-based cab services like Ola and Uber, though availability may be limited in some areas. For day trips to nearby attractions, consider hiring a taxi for the day, which costs approximately INR 1500 to 2000. **🌙 Evening Activities** As the sun sets, head to the Tungabhadra riverfront near the fort for a peaceful stroll and to watch the sunset. The area is safe and popular with locals, and you'll find street vendors selling snacks and tea. For a more lively evening, visit the Kurnool Club or one of the local bars like Vintage Bar & Restaurant on Station Road, which stays open until 11:00 PM. Check local listings for cultural events or film screenings at the Kurnool Town Hall.
