**🏞️ Start with the Cliffs** Begin your Danyang visit at Dodamsambong Peaks, the iconic rock formations rising from the Namhan River. A riverside walk offers the classic postcard view, and you can rent a paddle boat for a closer look. Arrive before 9 a.m. to beat the tour groups and enjoy the morning light on the stone pillars. **🚴 Cycle the River Path** Rent a bike at the Danyang Tourism Office near the bus terminal and follow the riverside trail toward Guinsa Temple. The flat, paved path stretches about 12 kilometers and passes rice paddies and small villages. Electric bikes are available for 15,000 won per hour, and the ride takes roughly 90 minutes one way. **🛶 Kayak the Namhan** For a quieter water experience, join a kayak tour from the Danyang Rafting Center, located just south of the town bridge. Two-hour guided trips cost 35,000 won per person and weave through limestone gorges that are inaccessible by car. Book a morning slot in summer to avoid the midday heat and afternoon wind. **🏯 Visit Guinsa Temple** Guinsa Temple, the headquarters of the Cheontae order, sits in a forested valley about 20 minutes from town by bus. The complex is a maze of colorful halls and steep stairways, with a massive bronze Buddha at the top. Free admission, but dress modestly and try the temple's vegetarian lunch, served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for 10,000 won. **🍜 Eat Local Specialties** Danyang is famous for garlic and freshwater fish, so try the garlic-infused dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) at Hwanggeum Dakgalbi, a local favorite near the central market. For a lighter meal, order the eobok (fish soup) at Namhan River Restaurant, which uses freshly caught mandarin fish. Most restaurants close by 8:30 p.m., so plan an early dinner. **🌃 Evening Light Show** After dark, head to the Danyang Danuri Aquarium, which hosts a nightly LED light display on its exterior from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The show is free and best viewed from the riverside promenade across the street. If you prefer a quieter evening, walk the illuminated suspension bridge at the nearby Suyanggae Park, open until 11 p.m. **🚌 Getting Around** Danyang's town center is compact, but attractions like Guinsa and the rafting center require a bus or taxi. City buses run every 30 to 60 minutes from the main terminal, with fares starting at 1,500 won. Taxis are affordable, with a trip to Guinsa costing about 15,000 won, but they can be scarce after 9 p.m., so plan accordingly. **💡 Seasonal Tips** Spring and autumn are the best times to visit, with mild temperatures and clear skies for the mountain views. In summer, book rafting and kayaking at least a day ahead, as weekends sell out quickly. Winter brings fewer crowds, but many riverside restaurants close, so check hours in advance and pack warm layers for the windy riverbanks.
