**🗓️ Planning Your Trip** Santa Teresa del Tuy is a bustling town in Miranda state, about 60 kilometers south of Caracas. The dry season from December to March offers the most comfortable weather for exploring. Budget around $30 to $50 per day for meals, local transport, and modest attractions. Book your accommodation in the town center to minimize daily transit. **🚌 Getting Around Town** Local buses and por puestos (shared taxis) connect the main plazas and neighborhoods. A ride within the center costs about 5 to 10 bolivars, while longer trips to the outskirts run 15 to 20 bolivars. Expect 10 to 20 minutes between central points, but allow 30 minutes during peak hours (7-9 AM and 5-7 PM). Walking is feasible in the compact downtown area. **🏨 Where to Stay** The area around Plaza Bolívar offers the best selection of posadas and small hotels. Hostal Santa Teresa, on Calle Sucre, has double rooms from $25 per night with breakfast. For a quieter stay, try Hotel El Remanso on Avenida Monseñor Unda, about 10 minutes from the bus terminal. Book ahead during local festivals in October and December. **☕ Day 1 Morning: Center** Start at Plaza Bolívar around 8:00 AM for a coffee and pastelito at Panadería La Espiga on Calle Bolívar. Then visit the Iglesia Santa Teresa, a colonial-era church facing the plaza, open from 7:00 AM to noon and 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Walk five minutes to the Mercado Municipal on Calle Páez to browse fresh produce and local crafts. Allow two hours for the market. **🍽️ Day 1 Afternoon: Lunch** Have lunch at Restaurante El Fogón de Teresa on Avenida Bermúdez, known for its hearty pabellón criollo at around $6. After eating, take a 15-minute taxi to Parque Recreacional Los Ocumitos for a shaded walk along the Tuy River. The park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and charges a small entry fee of 2 bolivars. Return to the center by 5:00 PM to avoid crowded buses. **🌳 Day 2 Morning: Outskirts** Head to the Hacienda Santa Teresa area, about 20 minutes by taxi from the center, to see old cacao and coffee plantations. Tours run at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on weekdays for around $5 per person. Wear comfortable shoes because the grounds are uneven. Bring water and sunscreen, as shade is limited. **🎨 Day 2 Afternoon: Culture** After lunch at a local arepera on Calle Ribas, visit the Casa de la Cultura de Santa Teresa on Calle Sucre. It hosts art exhibitions and occasional theater performances, usually open from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. From there, walk 10 minutes to the Plaza Bolívar to people-watch and try street snacks like empanadas at 1 to 2 bolivars each. **🌙 Day 3 Evening: Nightlife** Spend your last evening at the bars and eateries around Avenida Monseñor Unda. Start with a drink at Bar El Tuyero, which opens at 6:00 PM and serves cold beer for 3 bolivars. For dinner, try Restaurante La Casona on Calle Bolívar, offering grilled meats and fish plates from $8. Live music often starts around 9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Taxis back to your hotel are easy to find until midnight.
