honestly, santa teresa del tuy is more of a dormitory town than a tourist spot, so your daily costs are lower than in caracas. for food, a proper lunch at a local arepera runs about 2-3 usd, and a cheap dinner at a posada might be 5 bucks. transport is cheap if you use the por puesto colectivos, like 0.50 usd per ride to la victoria or charallave.

you wont find much sightseeing in the traditional sense, but the plaza bolivar is nice to hang out. if you want a real adventure, take a bus to the nearby laguna de tacarigua for some birdwatching, entry is like 1 usd. just bring cash in bolivares because card acceptance is spotty.

fwiw, if you're trying to stretch your budget, skip the sit-down restaurants near the central plaza and hit the street food stalls on av principal las flores instead. you can get a full meal of pabellon criollo for like 1.80 usd there, and it's legit better than most places in town

for getting around, the bus to san antonio de los altos is only 0.80 usd and drops you near some decent hiking trails if you're into that. just watch out for the afternoon traffic heading back into town, it can add an extra 30-40 mins easy

one thing that caught me off guard was the cost of toiletries and sunscreen in santa teresa, they're way more expensive than in caracas because of transport costs. bring your own from the airport or stock up in la candelaria before you head down

yeah what the other person said is pretty accurate, but one thing to keep in mind is that prices in santa teresa have been creeping up lately, especially if you go to the central market. a solid breakfast of empanadas and coffee will set you back maybe 1.50 usd at most stalls, but the ones near the terminal are a bit cheaper

for transport, the por puesto to los teques is like 1 usd and the ride is kinda scenic, not gonna lie. if you're staying more than a week, renting a room from a local on the outskirts is way cheaper than any posada in town, like 10-15 usd a night vs 25

one thing nobody mentions is that the water can be iffy in some areas, so stock up on bottled water at the abasto before heading out. also, sunday mornings the plaza bolivar has a small artisan market with decent handmade stuff, good for souvenirs without the tourist markup
