**🍲 Start with Osh** Andijon's signature dish is osh (plov), and the best place to try it is at the bustling Osh Markazi near the bazaar on Navoi Street. A generous plate costs around 25,000 to 35,000 UZS and is served from 11:00 until the pot runs out, usually by 14:00. For a sit-down version, head to the OshXona at 45 Bobur Avenue, where a full portion with salad and tea runs about 40,000 UZS. **🥟 Samsa and Street Snacks** The street food scene around Chorsu Bazaar is unbeatable for quick bites. Look for the tandir samsa stalls on Yangi Bozor Street, where freshly baked pastries stuffed with meat and onion sell for 5,000 to 8,000 UZS each, best enjoyed hot from the clay oven between 08:00 and 18:00. Don't miss the lagman stands near the central bus station on Furqat Street, serving hearty noodle soup for around 20,000 UZS. **🍢 Shashlik and Grill Spots** For smoky, succulent shashlik, locals flock to the open-air grills along Milliy Tiklanish Street in the evening. A skewer of lamb or beef costs 12,000 to 18,000 UZS, and the stalls typically fire up around 18:00 and stay busy until midnight. Try the chicken shashlik at the family-run spot near the Andijon Hotel on Bobur Avenue, where a full meal with bread and tea comes to about 50,000 UZS. **🍜 Noodle Houses and Soups** Andijon has a strong tradition of hand-pulled noodles, and the best place to experience them is at the Lagman House on Navoi Street, just east of the bazaar. A bowl of lagman or mastava costs 18,000 to 25,000 UZS, and the kitchen stays open from 10:00 to 20:00 daily. For a lighter option, try the shurpa (lamb soup) at the small cafe inside the Chorsu Bazaar complex, priced at around 15,000 UZS. **🍵 Tea Houses and Sweets** No meal in Andijon is complete without a visit to a chaikhana, and the Chaikhana at 12 Navoi Street is a local favorite for its relaxed atmosphere and bottomless tea. A pot of green tea costs 5,000 UZS, and you can pair it with honey, jam, and fresh non (bread) for another 10,000 UZS. For something sweeter, stop by the pastry shop on Bobur Avenue near the central park, where halva and baklava sell for 8,000 to 12,000 UZS per piece. **🥘 Regional Specialties** Andijon is known for its unique variety of plov called 'Andijon osh', which features yellow carrots and chickpeas. To taste the authentic version, visit the Osh Markazi on Navoi Street early in the morning, as it sells out by noon. Another local specialty is 'khanum', a steamed rolled dough dish, available at the family cafe on Furqat Street for about 20,000 UZS per portion. **💰 Budget and Mid-Range Eats** Street food and bazaar stalls are the most budget-friendly options, with meals costing under 30,000 UZS. For a sit-down lunch, expect to pay 40,000 to 60,000 UZS at places like the OshXona on Bobur Avenue or the Lagman House on Navoi Street. Most restaurants accept cash only, so carry enough Uzbek som for the day. **🕒 Timing Your Meals** Breakfast in Andijon is usually a simple affair of non and tea, but you can find fresh samsa from 07:00 at the bazaar stalls. Lunch is the main meal, served between 12:00 and 14:00, and that's when osh is at its best. Dinner starts around 19:00, and shashlik grills stay active until late, especially on weekends.
