Where to go solo in DTLA on a Wed night?

Question

I'm [30F] visiting DTLA for a few days, where can I go tonight for a few drinks and friendly vibes? Would also love if anyone wants to hang out!

Edit: I'm not single 😅

tbh skip the usual spots like perch or ace hotel rooftop, they're touristy and packed on wednesdays. check out the varnish on 6th st, it's a speakeasy inside a bar called the cobbler, low key and the bartenders actually chat. if u want something more food + drinks, grand central market is dead by 8pm but nearby there's a little place called las perlas on main st, they do mezcal flights and it's chill, not a pickup scene at all. since you're not single, maybe just grab a seat at the bar at 71 above, the view is nice but the vibe is more business casual, still friendly if you sit alone. i'd offer to hang but i'm out of town rn, hope you find a good corner.

skip the speakeasy hunt if u want convos, go to the rooftop bar at the ace? no wait, that's packed. try the rooftop at the hoxton on broadway instead, it's got fire pits and a younger crowd but not bro-y, plus the lobby downstairs has a coffee bar that turns into a wine spot after 6. if u want something truly weird and local, go to the biltmore hotel's gallery bar, it's this old school marble and gold thing, dead quiet but the old bartenders have stories. i'm in pasadena or i'd meet u, but wednesdays are my trivia night anyway.

fwiw there's a spot called the wolves on 7th, it's a tiny little whiskey bar tucked behind a sandwich shop, super easy to miss. not a scene at all, just good drinks and a few stools, the guy running it is happy to talk or leave u alone. then if ur feeling hungry after, the original farmers market is a quick uber but that's more daytime, so maybe just grab a slice at joe's pizza on spring st, it's open late and always has a mixed crowd. i'd come hang but i'm in the valley and my car

Since you're not looking for a scene, I'd say skip the cocktail bars and hit up Clifton's Republic on Broadway. It's a weird, multi-floor tiki forest thing, the lower bar is usually mellow on a weekday, and you can just wander around checking out the taxidermy and fake redwoods while sipping something rum-based. If you want to actually talk to people, the bartenders there are chatty in a low-pressure way, not trying to sell you on anything. For something quieter after, the Golden Gopher on 8th has a proper dive vibe with a decent jukebox, and it's a block away, so you can bounce between the two. I'm in Koreatown or I'd join, but Wednesdays are my late gym nights, so I'm useless anyway.

if u end up near 7th & fig, there's a spot called the spring street bar that's been there forever, cash only, jukebox full of 70s soul. it's the kind of place where the regulars will talk to u about the dodgers whether u care or not, and nobody's hitting on anyone. after that, the modern times coffee on spring st stays open late, they do natural wine and the crowd is all people reading or sketching, super easy to just exist alone without it being weird. i'm in long beach or i'd offer to buy u a round, but wednesdays are my late shift anyway.
