**🗓️ Day 1 Downtown Core** Start your morning at 8:00 AM with coffee and a pastry at Madcap Coffee, 98 Monroe Center St NW, then walk two blocks to the Grand Rapids Art Museum at 101 Monroe Center St NW, which opens at 10:00 AM and costs $10 for adults. After lunch at The B.O.B., 20 Monroe Ave NW, spend the afternoon exploring the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum at 303 Pearl St NW, open until 5:00 PM with $10 admission. For dinner, head to San Chez Bistro, 38 W Fulton St, for tapas around 7:00 PM, then catch a show at the Van Andel Arena, 130 W Fulton St, if there is an event. All of these stops are within a 15-minute walk of each other, so you will not need a car or bus. **🚌 Getting Around Town** Grand Rapids is compact, but the Rapid bus system covers most neighborhoods for $1.75 per ride or $3.50 for a day pass. From downtown to Eastown, take Route 4 or Route 5; the trip takes about 15 minutes. To reach the West Side, hop on Route 9 from Rapid Central Station, 250 Grandville Ave SW, and expect a 10-minute ride. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft are plentiful downtown, with typical fares between $8 and $15 for cross-town trips. Walking is often fastest in the downtown core, as most attractions are within a 20-minute walk. **🍳 Day 2 Eastown Eats** Begin Day 2 at 9:00 AM with breakfast at Wolfgang's Restaurant, 1530 Wealthy St SE, a local institution known for its eggs Benedict and strong coffee. Then walk five minutes to browse the independent shops along Wealthy Street, including Rebel, 1553 Wealthy St SE, and Vertigo Music, 129 S Division Ave. For lunch, grab a burger at The Winchester, 648 Wealthy St SE, which opens at 11:00 AM. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Aquinas College campus or take a 10-minute drive to the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, 1000 E Beltline Ave NE, open until 5:00 PM with $14.50 admission for adults. Dinner options include Maru Sushi & Grill, 927 Cherry St SE, or the Green Well, 924 Cherry St SE, both open until 10:00 PM. **🎨 Day 3 Art and Culture** Spend your final morning at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, 2 W Fulton St, which opens at 12:00 PM on weekdays and charges $5 for admission. Before that, have brunch at Littlebird, 95 Monroe Center St NW, open at 9:00 AM, known for its seasonal menu. After UICA, walk to the Grand Rapids Public Museum, 272 Pearl St NW, open until 5:00 PM with $12 admission, and ride the 1928 carousel. For a late afternoon break, stop by the Downtown Market, 435 Ionia Ave SW, open until 8:00 PM, where you can sample local cheeses and baked goods. End your trip with dinner at Grove, 919 Cherry St SE, which opens at 5:00 PM and offers a seasonal tasting menu for around $60 per person. **🌳 Outdoor Breaks** If you need a nature fix, head to Riverside Park, 2001 Monroe Ave NE, which has 2 miles of paved trails along the Grand River and is free to enter. The park is a 10-minute drive from downtown or a 20-minute bus ride on Route 11. For a shorter stroll, the Grand River Edges Trail runs through downtown and connects to the fish ladder at 6th Street Dam, a popular spot for watching salmon in the fall. In winter, the trail is plowed, but check for ice. Another option is Millennium Park, 1415 Maynard Ave SW, with 18 miles of trails and a beach, open from dawn to dusk. **🍺 Evening Brewery Stops** Grand Rapids is known as Beer City USA, so dedicate at least one evening to a brewery crawl. Start at Founders Brewing Co., 235 Grandville Ave SW, which has a taproom open until midnight and offers tours for $5 on Saturdays. Then walk 10 minutes to Brewery Vivant, 925 Cherry St SE, a former funeral home turned brewpub with Belgian-style ales and food until 11:00 PM. For a quieter vibe, try The Mitten Brewing Co., 527 Leonard St NW, open until 10:00 PM, which serves pizza and craft beer in a vintage baseball-themed space. Most breweries are within a 15-minute drive of downtown, and ride-sharing is easy to find after 9:00 PM. **💵 Budget and Timing Tips** Expect to spend around $150 to $200 per day per person if you mix paid attractions, casual meals, and a few drinks. Many museums offer free admission on select evenings, such as the Grand Rapids Art Museum on Tuesdays after 5:00 PM. The Rapid day pass at $3.50 is a great deal if you plan more than two bus rides. Book brewery tours and popular restaurants like Grove at least a week in advance, especially on weekends. Keep in mind that most downtown attractions close by 5:00 PM, so plan your indoor activities for the morning and afternoon. **📅 Seasonal Adjustments** In summer, add an evening at the Fifth Third Ballpark, 4500 West River Dr NE, to catch a West Michigan Whitecaps baseball game, with tickets starting at $8. Fall brings ArtPrize, a free international art competition that takes over downtown for two weeks in September and October, so expect larger crowds and higher hotel rates. Winter months mean indoor activities like the Grand Rapids Children's Museum, 11 Sheldon Ave NE, open until 5:00 PM with $9 admission. Spring is ideal for the Frederik Meijer Gardens butterfly exhibit, which runs from March through April and costs $14.50 for adults. Always check hours online, as some attractions reduce hours in January and February.
